So I have heard dogs can go blind or get catarax if they always stare into the sun light. My Boston Terrier LOVES sun patches that come in through the window and it is her ritual every morning to jump on the couch and roast in the sun. I always catch her though just squinting and starring basically directly into the light. It is her way of sun bathing and relaxing. I am so scared in a few years she will go blind due to this. Is this true and are there any drops out there to prevent this? I really don't want to ban her from her patches b/c she really does love them. thanks
I'd say it's normal as well. If she was actually staring directly into the sun she'd be blind already if she does it a lot. Just because she looks like she's looking at the sun doesn't mean she is, and the squinting you describe seems to indicate to me that she guarding her eyes.
alot of the girls i work with have bostons. they breed and show them. one thing that seems to be common amongst all of them is the basking in the sun. when all the dogs are out playing these guys are soaking up the rays.
