This morning at the vets, a woman was there with her Basenji. In comes this dumdum with a gsd. He said oh, look you want to play with the doggie. All the time she is telling him her dog can be aggressive to other dogs. This was a gsd. puppy he had. Well, he said I have a female. I don't think your male would jump on a female. Even with her telling him not too, he walked his dog right up and all the time his dog was pulling back. If that had been one of my dogs that would have made me furious. I thought how stupid can you be.
I was walking my Standard Poodle home right at dusk. When he was a young dog he was really scared of twilight and got very spooky.
I ran into a group of teenagers and they all wanted to pet the dog. I thought the socialization would be good for him, but he started to growl and back away. I told the girls to leave him alone that he was scared of them.
This one girl kept trying to pet him she said, "All dogs like me. You aren't scared of me are you?" The poor dog is trembling and growling and trying to hide behind me. I finally had to lead the dog away from her. I told her that it was not personal but that they dog was unreasonably scared and I was sure that she meant no harm but she should never try to pet a dog that was growling and trying to back away.
As I was leaving, he started growling again and that girl had walked up behind us and was trying to pet him again!
If he had bitten her, everyone would have blamed me!
It's amazing what you can see at the Vet's office. Two weeks ago while at the Vet I witnessed the biggest (and one of the most good looking) Lab lifting his leg and marking (pee) almost everything in the waiting room. His owner didn't bat and eyelash! What's that all about? PEOPLE!
She was trying to be nice about it but I think after about the third no, I would have asked him what part of no he didn't understand. I would have not appreciated it even if the dog wasn't aggressive if it had been mine. You don't know what other dogs have, and to chance one of them getting hurt if they had got into it. Its not worth it. But like someone said he must be happy in his own little ignorant world. His puppy was about twice the size of her dog, but you could tell she was afraid.
At our vet's office they have cats there that are up for adoption. They are kept in a big cage with a sign with their story. Anyway, this lady was there with her pekingese and she let the dog basically torture these poor cats. He kept jumping on the cage and barking at them and reaching his paw in trying to get them. Meanwhile the cats are hiding in the corner and growing and hissing.... What a friggen idiot...

we were at the park yesterday, me, bf and both dogs. we go to this one place because she has serious aggression issues (all 16# of her) and i have never seen another dog there. except this huge newfie. every so often, never on a lead, a really sweet dog if you can get past the 3 gallons of drool. anyway, we were walking to the car, and i stop, say uh oh, and bf says, go that way. they both start growling like maniacs, and bf goes up to guy and newfie to head off a disaster while me ad the pups start a huge loop the other way to get around them and into the car. they guy says, tonka's really friendly (the newf) no problem, blah blah blah. so bf says she (points at snarling ridiculous 16# dog) isnt. meanwhile i am trying to sneak around them and into the car and he (guy) keeps insisting tonka is friendly. buddy, i am sure he is, but i want no parts of a fight btw a newf and a 16# eskie. so please kindly move away from my car so i can escort my snarling ridiculous beast monster dogs to their car crates and go get my pizza.
seriously, it amazes me how much in a walking coma OTHER DOG OWNERS can be. i can understand kids, people without dogs, etc. but other dog owners? sheesh. i always ask 'is he/she friendly, can i approach/pet him, etc'. and i always warn, if i do encounter another dog while i have cujo the eskie with me "she's not dog friendly! people ok, but not dogs!!!"
somep people have their heads permanently where the sun doesnt shine, huh?
Yesterday while I was walking my dogs I ran into a dog that I had found loose before and he was loose on the street AGAIN!
This is a dog that is a poodle mix, I was able to find the house where the owners live and I returned it right away.
I got in conversation with the owners (husband and wife) and I told them that whenever they wanted they could drop off their dog(benji) and I could bath him and groom him for them. Then the hubby looks at my dogs and of course they are nicely groomed and he said he wishes he had a dog like mine. Then he proceeds and says he wants to breed his poodle mix! He's not only a mutt but he is missing a front tooth and he is 6 years old! I believe he was hinting me if I wanted to mate him with my girl, I told him right away that Baby was spayed! He seemed so disapointed!
Why on earth does he want to breed his/this dog? He is not even taking care of it, now that is so ridiculous!!!

I remember a few years ago we had this macho guy come into the clinic to get his Macho (Huge dog)German Shep's nails trimmed. So me (Im not a weak little girl) I come out to get the dog to trim his nails. So the guy says "OH, I don't think so, this is a MANS dog, I need a man to do it" SO.........I go back and get the only man in the building, which is our Technician Danny (GAY! as gay can be FLAMEING!) And bring him out to get the dog. He was practically skipping. Well he hands over the dog to Dan with this strange look on his face, like What the? Anyways, after we get into the back he hands me the dog, I clip his nails and then bring him out to the guy. He say's "Was he a hand full?" "No I said, hes a cute little guy" Just to deflate his machoness...MEN!
i brought pipey to petco this afternoon .it amazes me how many people just walked up to her and pet her with out asking me.her being in a strange place, she was a little stressed,i dont need strange hands being raised up to pet my dog.had they asked i would've let them pet pipey, but at first with a sniff of the hand, and if she wanted a scratch under the chin, then take it from there.about 3 people bodly walked up and pet her out of nowheres .then some people walked by her and let her sniff their hand.that didn't bother me too much. strange dog ,things can happen.
I've got another "stupid people story" for ya. Once while visiting the vet with my dog, who was a 110lb Akita, a woman, her 3ish year old child, and a little beagle pup came in. This woman was having obvious difficulty keeping this pup under control. She then allowed her child to run up and try to "play" with my dog. I tried to explain that he wasn't feeling well and didn't want to play, all the while trying to keep this child at arms length. Well, he ended up darting undr my arm, jumping on my dogs back, and strattling him like a horse, and all the while this childs mother is smiling and saying how cute this is! I felt like choking this idiot! My dog was a total gentleman as always, but seeing that he was ill, this could have turned really ugly. Where do these people come from??!!!
honey1, i have made a few enemies that way- schooling parents on proper dog etiquette for their kids. i find most peopl edont like tobe told how to raise their kids. too bad. manners, or get away from my animals. those are the morons who teach their kids no manners, then sue when their kid harrasses some poor dog too far and ends up bit.
I can only imagine what that poor little Beagle had to endure if that is the way that childs mother let him treat a strangers dog. Sad! That woman had no idea how easily her kid could have ended up being lunch!
Then if the child is bit you who whose fault it would be. They would be hollering why didn't you restrain your dog. Well, duh, why don't you restrain your kids and other dogs. I just would not apprecitate someone letting their dog come right up to mine. My dogs have been tormented by neighbors kids so much that they can see a kid come in the vets office and start to growl. Then you get these funny looks like, oh you must have a mean dog.
oh! I really have to say this because it just irritates me whenever people do it which is quite often
I am walking my dogs and then I meet with a lady with her kids and the kids start saying "look at the doggy" "puppy!" etc., etc. then the mother says "pet the puppy" "pet the little dog"
As if my dogs were there just for anyone to pet them whenever they want!
Just to teach them a lesson I just walk away and just ignore them.
What I imagine this people think is that "it is just a dog" "the owner should have no objection for anyone to touch them" "the dog and its owner should be happy my kids want to pet it"
I do not think so!! I love my dogs as much as they love their kids and I am not going to let just anyone touch them, as a matter of fact whoever wants to pet them better wash their hands before doing so!

I actually don't mind a bit if people just come up and pet my dog-- my dogs love it and it feels good when people don't assume they are mean on sight. However, I agree it is a stupid thing for people to do. My dogs happen to love strangers, but what if they didn't??? I make kids ask their parents first because they need SOMEONE to teach them that and because I don't want any parent freaking out on me.
Now, I tell people from a distance not to let their dog near mine. I am not interested in how much their dog loves other dogs because Manson is not going to be friendly with their friendly dog. If they CONTINUE to come near me, I retreat, repeating for them to stay away, in a raised tone. I tell them that I will not be paying their vet bill and I would appreciate not having any extra vet bills of my own.
I am not a 'big' woman, but I just pick my 55-70 pound boxers up when people with dogs or strange dogs are near. Boxer females are notoriously bad at being 'dog aggressive'. I just don't take the chance. My girls get kind of an embarrassed look on their face like 'I can't believe your doing this too me mom, I wasn't gonna EAT them, just nibble a bit!'. I know that my dog is my responsiblity and that other dogs with Napoleon complexes may get very hurt otherwise. My dogs are all great around people though they may lick you to death.
