I have a black female pug puppy that will be 2 in may. in the past years, i've trained her to sit, fetch, come when called, only do her business outside, and do some selected tricks. She's very in shape for a pug, and she isn't wrinkly at all. She's very athletic and doesn't bore as easily as i expected. She'd much rather be running around trying to "kill" a soccer ball than be sitting down dointg nothing. Therefore, she should be pretty easy to train, but does anyone have any tips for me to train her more anyway?
Hey! I was at one of my friends house trying to train their Pug too. All I have to say is just remember to be kind to him/her. It is also easier if you have some of your dogs favorite treats. For instints, If you want him/her to roll over and isn't very good at it or didn't go all the way round you should still praise them. Do this by giving them a treat and say things like, "Good dog!", "Good job!", or "I love you", while patting your dog. From ya fello dog luvr: Kristi [12 yrz.old]
Hi...Agility is a very fun event as long as you have control of your pug off leash and can get a recall, even if you have to use treats or something that they just adore, like a baby or something. As a trainer in Sacramento Valley I have seen several pugs in Flyball classes and if you are up to it I have even seen them do very well in Canine Freestyle (dancing). There are lots of fun things out there...try looking in the phonebook and call some kennels or vets to get local numbers for canine groups...they always have something fun to offer to people.
