What about people who are not able to reg. through AKC. I got a shihtzu from a lady and I have tried so many times to get a hold of her so that I can get the information I need to put him through AKC but since I am unable to the CKC will do. As long as the dog is the breed you claim what is the big deal. What else can you do if you are in my boat? If there is any one who has an idea let me know

You know what I just found out about CKC?! They actually do not just give papers to anyone! A girl I overheard had a chihuahua that she wanted to get papers for and she sent in her photos and had her signatures and guess what? They actually denied her saying it did not look like the breed! She was upset I overheard her talking, but hey atleast it shows they actually do take the time!

If you ask me, the AKC has done more to damage pure breeds than other clubs. With their emphasis on show dogs and promoting popular breeds you now have many breeds which look great but are plaqued with inbred genetic problems (skin disease, epiliepsy, eye problems, etc). AKC does NOT mean you are getting a healthy dog. Only a repulatble breeder can provide that.

John--I couldn't agree more. Just because a dog is AKC or from conformation breeders.... that really, truly means nothing to me.

If are into breeding and want to import or export your dog to/from USA, the dog has to be registered with AKC.

Most countries outside USA are associated with FCI and that means they only recognise AKC pedigrees, not CKC pedigrees.

A dog registered in CKC (not Canada...) and not in AKC, is not even considered a pure bred in FCI countries since FCI countries do not recognise CKC.

FCI don't recognise UKC or any other kennel club in US either. FCI only recognise one kennel club for each country and the kennel club chosen in USA is AKC.

The AKC issues papers to ANY PAYING CUSTOMER filing for some. They could care less how many applied for applications come from what so called breeder.

No if you have the AKC papers on the sire and the dam and apply for a litter from them 2, all you have to do is fill out the forms with the names and amount of puppy applications you want for that litter.

No matter who they are or what breeds they apply for, if they have the money they can get all the AKC REGISTRATION PAPERS on ANY DOG they need papers for.

Mills and BYBs do not care if those are really the parents on the papers to the puppy you are buying or not.


You can get AKC PAPERS ON ANY dog you have of pure bred if you know how to apply for them.

I bet if you sent in some names and #s of dogs from over 20 yrs ago that you owned, claiming those 2 dogs have a new litter on the ground, youd get the papers you asked for on dogs that have been dead for years. All you need is their name and registration#s if you owned the dogs.

It depends on the breed if The FCI (which is not a registry, by the way--each country has it's own and is a member of FCI) takes AKC paperwork or not. Many breeds that are not AKC recognized and are listed with other registries can be imported or exported with different papers and are accepted. You have to check it out closely for the breed.
AKC wants DNA for any litter produced by "overage dogs".

all kennel clubs are scams there is no such thing as purebred all dogs were cross and mix and all dogs are champions in there on uniq way its up to the trainer to teach them thats all

akc and ukc or scam artist they been getting people out of thier money for over one hundred years now and it is time for the truth there is no such thing as a purebred all dogs were cross and mix all dogs or champions in thier own uniq way its up to the trainer to make it a champion or not teach it and show it love and would be the best dog ever no matter the breed keep this statemeent in before you try to sign up with one of those scam artist akc or ukc

As a breeder of AKC show beagles, I'd like to respond to msg #43 posted by JohnThomas...

I can only speak for my own breed but, I can say that our show lines are FAR healthier than our field lines. Show breeders are far more diligent when it comes to health screening, as evidenced by information available on the OFA web site. Rescue organizations also report a much higher prevalence of genetic disease in field lines.

I recently received a copy of "Hounds and Hunting", a magazine devoted to the field aspect of our breed. Throughout the magazine you find beagles so poorly built that it challenges the oft used expression "form follows function". Form may follow function but they may not be able to function for very long! The beagles featured are high in the rear, short on leg, flat footed and they have very weak pasterns. These are all faults that would limit a beagle's ability in the field as well as it's ability to live a long and healthy life.

It is not the AKC that is damaging our purebreds, it is uneducated breeders who sway too far in either extreme, whether in the show or field realm.

I only deal with AKC. I have heard that CKC will register a dog even if the parents have never been registered. As long as you send in a picture and it looks like a certain breed that is recognizeable then they will CKC it. That is just what I heard.

about all kennel clubs they all are scams to me all they want is your money they fool people about purebreds and mutts when all a long a so called purebred is nothing but a mutt anyways there is no such thing as an purebred the akc and ukc says that if a pitbull tail curls no matter what its age is that it is a mutt but i seen many pitbulls tail hit thier back that was regersterd to akc i got two purebred pitbulls one is 3 months and her tail curl and i am proud of her i aint getting rid of her because she is purebred f*** akc and ukc they can suck jay leno chin scaming poor people for thier money with that champion pedigree bull crap all dogs are champions and pedigrees in thier on uniq way so fack them scam artist and dumb goofy people join thier club and give them money for titles that they dog dont really need because like i said before all dogs are champions keep my disscusion in mind please this message goes out to all yall akc and ukc members please read this very important information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know how a breeder can get away with faulsifying parents on a dog, if AKC has DNA done on males that has been bred more than 3 times, I think. I don't know, I do not know much about faulsifying things like that. I do know they have to have DNA done on males though.

I am the proud owner of 3 beautifull and large english mastiffs. My 16 month old puppy is ring material, but Montana doesn't have CKC shows. I would just like to say that we are not a puppy mill because of our registration. We found a wonderfull women in Idaho who doesn't have a puppy mill, and her dogs were CKC. I have large, gentle, and well behaved dogs that I would give anything to show. I've contacted people about gettting AKC registered and have not had luck. Our dogs are propery vacinated and get treated like children. If you saw pictures, maybe you would believe that CKC is a good organization.

AKC has been around a long time and tends to be full of really political people. Many feel that if you don't have a "show" dog you shouldn't have a dog. They forget that dogs are our little furry loves, not all are perfect as not all people are perfect. The CKC registry came about because AKC was getting way to activist and political and way too into the money, charging high fees for registry and all. CKC is very reasonable for the breeder and the owner as far as fees. There are shows that you can enter your CKC dog into and have just as much fun or more fun than you have at the stuffier AKC shows. Honestly. All a registration paper is , is a piece of paper that shows your dog is "purebred". Other than that, it might as well be used to line the bottom of your bird cage. I'm finding that many of the characteristics that AKC says are "desireable" in dogs actually are contributing to the dog's demise. i.e. bad hips in Labs, too short a noses in Pugs and Bostons, contributing to nearly impossible breathing. Too small a dogs not allowing them to give birth properly...the list goes on and on. My vets all feel that the registries have gone overboard with what they have now as "standards" for some breeds. After all, who sets the standards? Not the dogs, that is for sure! :)
