Let me first say I BOW to all of you who had to puppy train only to have the puppy lose all sense of what they had learned. My pup has always done well with little or no work and NOW seems to be forgetting. I find this horribly frustrating, not to mentiont the fact that the timing is horrible. I don't know how to handle this well. I take her outside to go potty knowing she should need to and she just walks around for like 10-15 minutes IN THE COLD RAIN and does NOTHING! This dog used to pee oncommand of "go potty". We came inshe was soppingwet and ran for the basement of course where she has been enjoying peeing. I didn't know what else to do but to let her dry off in her crate since I couldn't watch her well enough right now. RIGHT, WRONG? I dunno. I amjust frustrated. It is the first day back from spring break and I am a mess today. I feel like I have ten million things to do, no time to do it AND COLD ICKY MUDDY RAINY conditions outside and no way to let Faith out to run and play. I know i am a pain today. ANYONE know where I am coming from?
oh, i know; no problem with letting her dry off in her crate. that's what crates are great for, when you can't watch the dog. they will find out of the way places to potty, smaller dogs will. keep at your training and she will get back to her regular ways. they go through times of backsliding. you sound like you are doing absolutely wonderful with how you are raising your puppy!
Stick with it, I'd keep her outside in spite of the rain personally, until she goes. She probaly doesn't like getting her bottom wet when she squats to pee. I think all puppies go through a backsliding phase, personally. You will work through it.
I know it really is kind of funny! I was told it was hard to tell when a corgi peed but hadn't really seen the problem til today! She is going to get this all I know. She's too smart not to! I dressed in wool sweaters last time we went out and even a hat and didn't worry about the cold so much. It went better that way. I will make it through this! LOL! If I can raise 5 kids I can do this!
she is having a bad couple of days, she will get back into it, it just may take some time. mine, hate the rain, it has been awful today and suppose to rain until thursday here. i have to take her out on the leash some time in the rain, because she just gets to smelling all the smells of the rabbits and squirells with the rain. shes wet, im wet, her little raincoat slides around some. it really is kind of funny, but it seems the moms usually get to do all this stuff... something wrong with this picture? its fine to let her dry off in her crate.
I laughed til I cried. Thank you! This sounds like my day. Try doing this (housebreaking your dog) while potty training a 2 year old, changing a 15 month old's diaper, making pancakes, trying to get your 6 year old ready for school, and conviencing your 5 year old to eat. I think you day sounds a little brighter now! LOL!
