What are Schnauzer Bumps? What causes them. And what can I do to keep my dog from getting them? My Minature Schnauzer has a place that has came up right above her tail on her back, it honestly looks like a small sore it does have a scab and it is not running any fluid. I have heard of Schanuzer bumps but I wasn't s sure what to look for in order to identify them. thanks for any info -- allis appreciated.ure what they are
I would like info on this as well as my breeder said they had shown up in her line before. Tsion has a little scab on top of his head. I asked the vet what it was and she thought just a scrape. But I'm still afraid its Schnauzer bumps. The breeder said she switched to an antibacterial soap.
Hi all, Well, although I'm not a schnauzer breeder, I do know a little bit about them. Schnauzers seem to have sensitive skin and are prone to skin problems and allergies. So, the 'bumps' could be from a multitude of things. Maybe they are allergy related? A lot of schnauzers that I have owned and seen are sensitive to fleas. A flea bit on a couple of the ones I've had would make a huge whelp and cause multiple problems.
And I am VERY careful with what products I use on all my dogs, including the Schnauzers. (My persians were a sensitive breed as well) So, I use all natural products or very gentle ones. I don't mean to advertise here, but I use EZGroom products. Yes, they can be a bit price-y for the average person but they are great. Their perfumes do not harm either and even the most allergic pets can use these products. Their Crystal white, Crystal black and crystal gold are the best I've found for coat colors, etc.
My two older schnauzers have had the bumps and the little one has never had one. They look like little wart type things. Usually black and what I do is just watch them and if they grow, I have had some taken off them. I let the hair stay alittle longer and cover them if they show too much. I know allergies must not have anything to do with it because my one female that has a couple of sch. bumps has allergies, but the male has no allergies. My vet watches them pretty close and if they don't look right we usually just go ahead and remove them. Mandy has a couple on her that are skin color, not black. Don't know if those are condsidered sch. bumps or not. I know they bother me more than they do them.
They are called Comacones, it is a skin ailment that schnauzers get. I am a groomer and a mini schnauzer owner. I have found that as long as you feed them quality food, stay away from corn as an ingredient and keep them clean- Bathing every 2-3 weeks will keep the condition at bay. Flair ups have been treated with witchhazel for really sensitive skin or hydrogen perioxide for those abit heartier. It sounds weird but, Listerine is also a great topical solution- its an anti bactirial and is also safe if they tend to lick! Hope that helps. Omariwolf
I have 2 mini's and have never heard of that. Max does have flea allergies. But has never had the bumps. I have to start out early in the year with the front line and baths to keep him comfortable from those darn fleas.
Ok, we have had 7 Schnauzers in our family, not including friends who have them. All of us have encountered this problem from time to time and every time it's traced back to their diet. Yes, they tend to flare just after grooming but typically it is from "treats" in their diet or from thier dog food. My schnauzer currently has it and I know it's because I have been giving her treats lately. The ONLY thing that gets rid of them is switching to a LAMB AND RICE DIET. It can not have other grains or meat... it will cause the bumps. One day, I ran out of our dog's food and couldn't get to the specialty store so I used a chicken based food. She only ate it for 3 days but the bumps came quickly and stayed for weeks. TRY NUTRO MAX LAMB AND RICE. This is the only brand I can say works ALL THE TIME. You have to give it about 3 weeks for the bumps to clear but as long as you don't feed them ANYTHING but that, the bumps will stay away. Be careful not to use just any old "lamb and rice" brand. I have noticed that several on the market still have other meats and grains in them.
Again, this has worked for EVERYONE I know who has had this problem.
Look there is a solution to Shcnuazer Bumps. They are caused by a bacteria.
My vet gave me VETMOX which is Amoxicilin in luquid form used orally.
My dog wieghs 7 .lbs and and I gave her 2.6 ml via oral for six days straight every 12 hours or two times daily. On a full stomach. It's important to go the full duration of the six days to kill it all off. After the six days were up then I gave her some yogurt twice a week for three weeks to help introduce good bacteria back into her system.
NO more scratching and NO MORE BUMPS ! She is so happy. What a change.
As we've come to see in recent years, two years is an eternity in international football. The Dutch team who faced Portugal on Tuesday not only looked like a shadow of its former self, but one that is now faced with the reality that its roots, the same that carried them to a World Cup in 2010, will likely be ripped out and replanted. http://www.louisvuittonoutletaaa.com/hot_product.html
