It's been a while since I had a pup, but everytime I bring her in for her puppy shots, it's $135, this includes Lyme also. I love this vet's office, I used them for 10 yrs for my Jenna. A spay including blood work will be $285. Anyone else pay these high prices. Any input?
I live in Sarasota, FL, it's a resort town, maybe that affects the prices, I don't know. Every time she gets the shots, they include an office visit, even if the shots are a few weeks apart. Well at least she doesn't get them again until next year.
Did you know that a dog doesn't need vaccines every year? As a puppy, yes the do NEED those shots and I always encourage puppy shots. But, dogs as acults do not need shots every year. I'm sure this is good news to you!
I think $135 for shots is high. When my puppy Hershey got her checkup, 3rd puppy shots, rabies shot, Bordatella vaccine, and Nemex Tabs in June, I paid around $63.
To my knowledge, rabies vaccines are required either every year or every 3 years depending on what your state requires.
Also, check with your vet about the new rattlesnake vaccine. Don't know but it might be wise to get if there are rattlesnakes in your area. We are still thinking about whether to get Hershey that vaccine.
Tessa, great deal with paying only $300 let alone for 8 dogs and a vet who will make house calls. I guess there are very fews vets let alone any doctors who'll make house calls these days.
Weve been twice since I brought Tsion home. He was 11 weeks and had already had some shots prior. The first visit was about 100.00 and that included 25% referrel coupon from my neighbor thank god, the next visit was 70.00 including heartworm preventative. He is through with shots till Jan but the breeder gave several befire I got him
I live near Daytona Beach, FL and they say they vet I use is high. But when I took my puppies, it cost I believe $65 each. This was each time I took each of them for their puppy shots. So, yeah, that does seem a bit high.
Maggie--well, I guess you could say my vet isn't like most. He always makes house calls for farm animals. He treats alot of horse, bulls, cows, texas long horns, etc. He doesn't have a big enough office to bring them in, so he goes to them! And since we have so many dogs, he's nice enough(although it is TOTALLY out of his way to do so) to swing by and do that for us. He doesn't even charge us for the gas he has to use!!
---Yes, of course. Rabies is a must. Thankyou for correcting me :-)
I just got finished spending over 1200.00 at the vet in texas and he still doesnt know what is wrong with the dog. First he said that it had distemper because he said that the distemper shots I bought at the feed store were problaly no good because they might not keep them cold enough and he said there wasnt a test for distemper so he had to test for all these other things and rule out distemper and that the dog would problaly die but now the dog is fine and at home but I still had to pay for all the tests to rule out the distemper thoory anyway I am looking for new vet.
Our puppy Baxter just had his 4 month shots last week, rabies, distemper and a, exam. $59 When he is neutered it will be "about" $80 for the neutering. --He's a Bichon Frise puppy though and I know our vet sets the prices by the size of the pup.
