thank you so much for the advice. i am pretty worried because I only have 2 &half weeks. i have to make a decision before then if im going to keep him or not. I myself dont care if he pees or not but my dad does.I will try what you said.I train my dogs myself to and him and my other cocker are getting ready to get the canine good citizen certificate to be therapy dogs. thank you soo much tho
praise and treats are cool. yes treating in the crate is great, give him some everytime he goes in willingly, as for howling. you can kill 2 birds with one stone here. while you are doing the whole crate training thing, never, ever let him out while he is howling. only when he stops. if he is howling. do not pay attention to him, when there is a lull, you have to be quick, where ever you are praise him and go to him, but praise him right away so he can here you, then he will know you are coming and you are praising the quiet, we do not want him to start again. and let him out, some treats. and then next time, do not leave him so long. and praise. sometimes less is more. less time=no howling is good. long time= howling bad. i would rather reward a short time where there was perfection than a long time where we has to work on it. the dog will catch on quicker.
