I saw some for sale on the web today and as I'd never seen them I was very surprised. Are they bred to look like that or are they accidents? I thought they aren't recognized, Is that correct? They really didn't look like I expected Schnauzers to look. Appreciatte any info.
There are only three colors that are recognized. Salt & pepper, black, black & silver. I have seen the parti color but to me it just doesn't look like a true schnauzer. It depends on what anyone wants. We bought ours for pets, not show. I have 2 minis and a toy, which they also don't recognize. She is just as boxie looking and looks just like a true schnauzer only she isn't as big as a minute. We love her anyway. ha She is registered but registered as a mini. Maybe one day the toy will be recognized. I know one thing they are darling and we had one problem with her in the start and now she is just as healthy as can be. She is a silver color and darker until she is groomed, then she is silver with white legs and mustache. She is so smart it is unbeliveable. (spoken like a true mom, ha) But, it really just goes back to what you want. There are several breeders in Texas that have toys. You can go to toy schnauzers and I believe you won't have any trouble finding one. I saw your other post about wanting a toy, so I hope you find what you are looking for.We live in Texas and there are always ads in the paper. But, I would be real careful and check out the breeder as much as you can.
Sorry about that. I think it was another Linda that was interested in the toys. But, good luck anyway on trying to find you a schnayzer. You will never regret getting one. They are so smart, loving, easily potty trained. They are just wonderful little dogs.
thank you as I said before. I have a mini schnauzer. He is AWESOME! and I love the breed. I'm not looking for another dog at this time. Just curious how the partis came to be. I thought maybe someone on here would know. Really wondering if they are pure bred as they look so different.
