I know pet stores are not popular on this board and I def know and understand why. But what happens to a puppy that takes too long to sell? Do they put dogs to sleep at all? I just feel so terribly bad for the pups in there and it seems like most get homes qucikly but some dont and I was just wondering what the pet store do with them? thanks.
I believe they go back to the breeder if they never sell after a certain amount of time. Those puppies are put up for adoption in open vet clinics or dog shows as pets. IF the breeder doesn't keep them to breed with then.
I've often wondered too... there was a Golden ret. puppy I had my eye on, I really wanted someone to buy him jsut because I felt soooo bad.. I know I know, just makes room for a new dog... but he just touched my heart you know? I remember someone saying he was either put up for auction or used as a stud at the mill. (Usually the outcome)
I dont l like pet stores eaither. My neighbors buy all their dog from a pet store and they just bought a poodle becuase the pet store said they would give it a shot then burn it.I asked Uncle Bills what they did with them and they said if the mill breeders didnt want it back then they would drown it.Its so sad.
