i bought a puppy few days ago...its a mix breed ..mom is cocker spaniel and father is labrador....but this puppy looks more like a labrador...he is pure black...onething is so amazing in him is his very thick and extra coat....which doesnt have in labrador....he looks so great ...my question is that..is it a good mix breed???...and will it be turn out as a family dog???
I agree with tessa, they are the best dogs I have 2 and a 3rd on the way.I agree with tessa again with the grooming part cockers have lots of hair but they dont shed as much as labs.So with cocker in it it may not shed as much.
actually the labrador retriever coat is extremely dense and waterproof. It sounds like your dog has the density of a lab coat wtih the length of a cocker spaniel coat. HOpe it donest' shed like a lab :P
how the dog turns out is really up to how much time and effort you put in to training and socializing your pup.
lots of breed traits are hardwired into each dog but socializing or not socializing can soften or harden these traits.
since your dog is a mix it will be hard to tell what traits will be most dominant so it is extra important for you to start training and socializing at an early age and continue til the dog is at least 2 years old.
You already have the dog (and I am sure you are in love with it as you should be) so the questions you are asking really don't mean a thing now, those should have been asked before the purchase was made. If someone tells you no that is not a good mix are you going to get rid of the dog?
