I have been researching the Belgian tervuren and from what I have read it sounds just what I am looking for. Do any of you own one? What has been your experience with them?I would love to get one from the a rescue or somthing but I doubt if I could find one? With this breed is it better to raise from a pup or get an adult?
I would definitely raise one from a puppy, this is just me.
When my husband and I were considering getting anotehr dog, we spoke with some belgian tervuren breeders and met some dogs. Here's my general impression. The dogs are just gorgeous but many of the ones I met seemed very nervous. Not necessarily timid, but.. it's hard to explain. Maybe 'high strung' is a better word?
They are a lot of dog and if you aren't into training I wouldn't get one. They are working dogs, much like a BC and NEED to be stimulated, physically and mentally. I have friends with them and they are amazing dogs if you are into working them and doing lots of activities.
cocker lover, the malinios, tervueren, groendel, and lakenois are sort of the same the dog. they all are alike in perosnalitly. and malinois breedings produce tervuren puppies all the time and vice versa. so in the process of evolution, they are 4 varieties of the begian shepard. so i think tervuens are beautiful and can be handful, the "hugh strungness" will always be there, i have never met a mellow belgian. http://webmediamusic.com/raider/forum/bw_forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=32c27c8a6c038127bea55ddedbf98374&
