I just heard on our evening news that the Michigan Humane society and the St Clare Cty Animal control will be going to the area to rescue stranded animals...im glad something will be done...but how will people find their pets? I hope they can work it out so people care some day find their pets...
"At the hospital, a doctor euthanized some animals at the request of their owners, who feared they would be abandoned and starve to death. He set up a small gas chamber out of a plastic-wrapped dog kennel.
"The bigger dogs were fighting it. Fighting the gas. It took them longer. When I saw that, I said, 'I can't do it,' " said Bennett's husband, Lorne."
Oh my god. I could never do that.... I wouldn't leave. They would have to knock me out and drag me away.
I did see that SOME people got a chance to save their pets...doesn't make it an easier to hear that stories of the ones who can't. Hopefully that is true about the guy keeping the pets and taking cate of them.
There was this one lady who was 71 on the news she held up with her dog Dusty in her house. She doesn't have any family and they just got rescued yesterday! She had put some water in pans and buckets and had bottled water and was sharing with her dog. He was like 13 or 16 or something. Hooray for the little victories.
I was watching a Fox news report, and the reporter was speaking of all the pets left behind, well the new crew found a litter of 10 pups (boy they were cute) however the owners of the pups are believed dead, no one can tell because the puppies and dogs cant talk and the people are dead. Consider that one. The news crews are taking the pups home.
Oh that just rips my heart out! I just cannot believe all of this. The gassing?? Oh my, I know most of those people feel the way I do about my pets, they are family members. This whole thing is such a nightmare.
