I recently got a Bichon/Pomeranian mix! She's absolutely wonderful, great w/ large and small dogs, quiet, loves people, very playful, energetic, and excellent at learning tricks. But I've noticed they are not popular. I was wondering if anyone out there has one. She just a pup and is learning quickly, I want to know if there is anything I should be aware of behaviorally. As of know I believe I have the best of both dogs in one. But I want more research, something I haven't been able to find. Probably because she hasn't become a 'designer mutt'!
The problem is your dog is a mix breed, when breeding mix breeds there is no guarantee what they will look like or behave like, they could take on different aspects of the parents physically and behaviorally. A purebred is easy to say what they will be like as many of them have been around for many many years and they have consistent behavioral traits. One can't tell you what the behavior of a mix will be.
you just need to research a bichon and a pom. You never know what the mix will end up like so there is no set definition of any of the designer mutts. Your dog could act all pom but look all bichon,it just depends how the genes played out.
