I am looking for a dog and came across the puggle. Are puggles hard to train? DO they shed a lot? Would you be able to leave a puggle alone for 5 hours? Also, we have a large yard, but it is not fenced, would this be a problem? Can you reccomend any breed of dog that does not shed, can be left alone, is a smaller dog, does not require a huge amount of exercise but is still good with kids, friendly, and playful? Thankyou very much
I cannot tell you what a puggle will be like only because it is a mix breed dog. It can act like a pug or a beagle. It can look like either dog as well. There are no guarantees with mutts. I have nothing against mutts . If you want a small dog, little to no shedding, good disposition, great family pet , doesn't need very much exercise then I would recommend toy poodle, shih tzu, maltese, bichon frise. There are quite a few dogs out there that fit tthis description. You should visit yahoo pets and click on breed recommender. They will ask you several questions and then recommend a breed. I am partial to shih tzus. I have had many in the past. I never notice them shedding, they rarely bark , they are great with kids, they do fine home alone, they don't need a huge yard, very little exercise. They do need grooming every 6 weeks and they need tobe brushed every day.
Usually very difficult to train. they are stubborn just like a beagle. But tehy can have eitheir breeds charecteristics so you need to read up on both and if there is anyhting you don't like about eitheir forget it. Breeders claim its the best of both breeds but often its the worse. The dog may howl and love to run but pass it because its nose is too short. It all depends on how the genes pan out. And they, at least ones I have met, shed like crazy.

Thanks for the site, One of the highest results I got was for the Affenpinscher. Do you know anything about them? Upon looking them up I found something that called them "agressive" , what does that mean?
To be honest , you might have a hard time finding a breeder for an Affenpinscher. To me the Affenpinscher.sorta looks like a shih tzu with short hair. My shih tzu looks just like this affenpinscherhttp://www.dogbreedinfo.com/affenpinscher.htm. I know for sure a shih tzu is very nice and I have never seen mine shed. I have white sheets on my bed and she is black. I never see any of her hair on my sheets and she is always sleeping on my bed. We have a huge yard but she doesn't like to be outside. She is not active indoors. She loves my 3 year old. They watch tv together all the time. My dog loves to cuddle and sit on your lap. She has a wonderful disposition. After looking at your likes and dislikes it looks to me like a shih tzu would be a good match.
with mixed breeds you take characteristics of both and throw them together and mix them all up, with what comes out being any kind of combination of the breed traits, or more one than the other. in other words you just don't know, unless it is two breeds that are very close in temperament and breed characteristics.
I have a 5 yr. old puggle. He is not a mutt! He is a designer breed! Best dog ever. Very loyal never leaves my side. He listens very well. I did crate train him and he leared very fat. Yes he does shed but they all do! Pick up a furminator at petsmart and it will solve your problem. Very good with my family. Just take time with the dog like any other and you'll love him:) Buy the way very good guard dog barks when anyone oi near house! You would think i had a German Shepard!
