i like the idial of the dog strollers because if you are going to the park with the dog and you dont want the dog get all jumpy or run out of your hands. there is a web site i seen with cat strollers for. it is www.lakeside.com
I think it's dumb. Isn't the point in taking the dog for a walk, for the dog to walk and get exercise? Not be cooped up in a bag or stoller....
I do have a bag for my cat, for when he goes to the vet. he has managed to open every single crate he has.... he hits himself against the door until it comes off the hinges... even the metal ones, and then sits next to me on the seat. So I got one of the bags and he hasn't escaped, yet.
My neighbor has one for her maltese. She has one because she doesnt trust any groomer with her maltese since the last time she went to petco and they used a machine to pluck her ear hairs and totally ripped a whole entire layer of skin off. she just pushes her maltese around because it takes 3 hours for her to bathe, cut hair, nails, ears (one hair by one hair),tear stains and etc. for her maltese.
As soon as her maltese touches concrete she smells funky.
P.S. she is 52 and it kills her back but she still does it.
I just got a used stroller in a thrift shop for my Yorkies. It's for kids, of course, but my girls fit in it just fine. They look so cute. I live on dirt roads in the country, and they just put some horrible gravel on it and it hurts my girls' feet. So, they hate to go for walks around here. So, I take them in the stroller down my very long driveway, and then I let them out and they walk home with me pushing the stroller. Too cute. I imagine it will come in handy, flea markets, outdoor cafes. etc. And, now I can take long walks and they can walk till they are tired and then hop in the stroller. Sure, laugh if you want, but all of my Yorkie friends in my Yorkie forums know what I'm talking about. hehe.
I think it is ok if you have a child and the dog wants to ride in the lower basket or something... but to buy a doggie carriage (which they make now and sell) is kinda desperate to me but then again I want a dog backpack for my club because we go hiking with our dogs and I have two chihuahaus and one of them wants me to carry her all the time. (When we go hiking it is not rough hiking, just a nature walk through trails so the dogs are not in harms way.)
Well I guess my confusion seeing a women pushing a shih tzu in a pink stroller is no longer confusion... yes I guess it was ok for me to think it was kinda wierd! My boyfriend looked terrified and i reasurred him I would never do that.
I guess if you have a reason other than spoiling than that is non-strange to me...
Nay, dogs have 4 legs to use for walking, running and jumping, they need to use them. Are you taking the dog with you to have fun or is it just to get attention from strangers? We take Cody with us everywhere we can for fun and he is on his leash and under control and he gets alot of attention and I pay alot of attention to other dogs when we are out but I have to admit I do shy away from the ones that our dressed up, in strollers etc. that is just a little to weird for me. My dog is spoiled rotten but I do have limits. No offense to anyone who likes this stuff, just not my cup of tea. Do or use what you like and don't worry about what others think, that is the beauty of this country, you have the freedom to choose. For me no clothes or strollers for my dog, just a nice collar and leash and we are set!
I have two Min Pins and they would never sit still for a stroller. That stroller would be rocking and rolling. It would be like torture to take them outside but not let them run around and sniff. May be okay for some dogs but I think it is a bad idea for most.
Okay, my shih tzu goes every where with me, and when I broke my back that became a problem. So the stroller is the best money we have ever spent. She still gets to go, and I don't have pain. Laugh all you want. We are both happy.
I think they are a great idea! One of my Chihuahuas has heart problems, she wants to go out with the others but cant walk too far, my husband is elderly, we dont have a car and use bus's, so a stroller is handy to put chis in til we get to designated place to have a nice walk.
