I was given some more suggestions through some posters at dogster in assisting with the fostering of these displaced animals. I had tried 3 other places that had been mentioned here, and no one ever contacted me, but they still keep expressing the need. If nayone is interested you can sign up at:
I generally have very limited space for dogs, but had a new thought. If these agencies come through with contacting me, I am thinking of posting signs locally and requesting donations of dog houses, kennels, fencing, food, supplies, etc. So that I may give more spots to fosters, and any donated items will be donated back to the families that come back to collect their beloved pets, or to the new homes they recieve.
Just for info, the coastal rescue contacted me saying that they were not interested in my assistance due to my location. It stated they require a home inspection and I live too far away for them to come. Why cant they have a local rescue come check and send them the ok? They did refer me to another organization, I wrote them, but this makes 6 places now, and 4 have not een bothered to respond.....at wits end, dont think I'm trying anymore after this.
lol, looks like I have a private thead :P

I am in Ohio. I have not heard from the last one or the new one that coastal sent me to. Just very upsetting to keep hearing about the need, but no one will take your help....grrr. My heart goes out the the pets and families of Katrina
If you go on petfinder.com a lot of the dogs that were sent up north are listed there as Katrina dogs...If you are looking tohelp a specific breed contact the nearest rescue group for that breed. I know that most of the rescue groups sent what dogs they could to another up north. Otherwise you can email me at email@example.com and I cnsa try to help you
I recieved an e-mail from a site that was previously given out on tp about Katrina pet rescue, This is the response I recieved. This was from http://www.carams.org , which was the site given when we were asked to contact Lynda V......very confusing as her phone message states a desperate need for homes as did the website, and this states it wasnt true. So why would they say on the site they did?? Something is weird.
"The email that has been in circulation regarding the fostering of evacuee animals from our shelter was incorrect. We only had 6 evacuees. We were inundated with emails, applications & phone calls due to that email and have been trying to do damage control ever since. Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you."
