What is the best and safest way to send money to a breeder? I only sold puppies to local people. I need to put a deposit on this puppy but I want to be safe about it. Think a check would be safest or something like paypal? Any help at all?
Paypal can be good but it depends on how long you have to get the pup. You can only get a refund from them if osmething goes wrong in thirty days. I would just get a money order/check and have copies of absolutely everytthing if I couldn't go deliver it myself.
i sent a money order for both the deposit and the balance. but i wasnt concerned about my breeder stiffing me. i think that if there is the slightest doubt in your mind that she may stiff you...then i would keep searching for another breeder.
When I sell puppies out of state to people I only take certified checks from their banks.
I have heard and every where you read even on this site it will tell you that mostly only scammers use and exept Western Union. Not sure how they get fake ones, but they do I guess. I have also heard that about money orders.
So for me I want the check from their bank. A certified check is like a money order. To get one you have to have the money. So there is no waiting time.
I just feel safer with one from a bank then a money order.
That is just me. I would ask the breeder if they have a prefrence if they don't then go with want you are comtable (sp) with.
I have a whole paper I send to people that tells of our shipping information when they let me know they are really interested in a puppy. That way they know all about the cost, refunds and payment.
Good luck. What color and kind of Chow are you getting? I like the rough cream colored ones.
I restarted my computer and can see the posts now. Okay, I will find out what their preferred method of payment is. I have talked to a couple puppy owners from them, one of them is the person who reffered him to me. Thank you all for your help, I really do appreciate it. :)
I don't think the method of payment matters. It's all dependent on whether you trust the breeder. I personally won't use paypal or take credit cards - my personal choice. I prefer to take money orders or cashier's checks.
The last puppy I brought in was an Aussie puppy that I got from a breeder in New Mexico and I was SO comfortable with the breeder. She answered all of my questions and even offered more information than I needed. She was fine with a personal check. I would say ask the breeder and then do what you feel more comfortable with.
If you send an email request to any breeders that have puppies advertised for sale on this site, you get an email notification of this "Puppy Escrow" which protects both you & the breeder, by holding the money in escrow until both parties state that they are satisfied.
