Gave up on the myspace.com.. don't know how to show all pics so I added them to the dogster page. Does he look like he's purebred RED min pin? He currently weighs 20.5 lbs. Just adopted him Saturday and they said he was a purebreed as far as they could tell. It doesn't matter either way, we love Bailey very much, was just curious because the lady at the vet's office said he looks like he's got terrier in him. Thanks in advance...
he doesnt look purebred to me just based on the few i have seen in our office. but who knows ? it wouldnt matter one way or the other to me personally if he were mine. he looks well loved and happy and that is all that matters
Icy, sorry to correct you but the MinPin isn't a bred down version of the GP or Doberman, they are simply MinPins!!!
From the MPCA site:
The Miniature Pinscher is not a scaled-down, smaller version of anything, especially the much larger Doberman. Both the Doberman and Miniature Pinscher likely descended from the Old German Standard Pinscher, (considered by many to be behind several German breeds) but there the relationship ends. Historians agree that the Miniature Pinscher originated in Germany several centuries ago as an efficient barnyard ratter. In an AKC Gazette column of 1935, Helen Coster stated that in response to her inquiry, the German Kennel Club in Stuttgart, said in their letter to her "the Zwerg or Dwarf Pinscher is a pure German breed from olden times, and that it has nothing to do with the Doberman or the Manchester Terrier." The Club also calls him the "Reh" Pinscher, but this term is only used for a dog of stag-red color, "reh" referring to a small red deer found in German forests years ago.
hearts4harley sorry I didn't see the other photos on dogster! He could be pure, he's huge for a Pin but it can happen..... His coloring is a little off but again things happen.

Yes, he is very well loved! It's kinda funny tho because he weighs 20lbs and Harley weighs 3lbs. Ninja weighs 150 or more lbs, the ferrets weigh 1.5lbs a peice.. it's so funny! But seriously, we don't care if he's purebred or not. He is a big sweety and we love him just the same no matter what. I have started taking them for walks around the neighborhood, they said Bailey wasn't leash trained, but he does very well. Harley doesn't understand walking with me yet, so I end up having to hold him and just walk Bailey LOL! I was trying to make the bed the other night and Bailey wouldn't get off the sheets so I had to pick him up and set him on the floor and quickly grab the sheets and pull them off the bed, but I wasn't quick enough and he jumped up on the bed and went right back asleep on them. I just stood there for a minute dumbfounded, like "ok? don't i feel dumb?" lol.. So I just let him sleep, but it was pretty funny!
Wow, Bailey is absolutely gorgeous! I live in Indonesia and I have a little dog called Lae Lae that I took off the streets about a year and a half ago. She is adorable, the vet here thought she was a Minpin but I was never sure what mix or breed she was. However, now that I see your lovely baby, I am sure that she is a good part Minpin.
The funny thing is that my mother has always said that she wanted a Minpin, and here I am picking one off of the street! She is a fantastic little dog, a little wary of strangers, but ever so loving once she knows who you are (it takes about 5 minutes of ‘get to know you time’ and she is walking all over you - literally!)
I do not know what I would do without her, I had to leave my three dogs in Australia with my parents when I came out here (a Papillion - Boswell, a Rhodesian Ridgeback - Caleb and a Cattle Dog - mix Border Collie and Kelpie - Finn), so she keeps me sane!
The minpin is certainly not a miniture doberman. However the basic german pincher is a desendent behind many of hte pincher breeds. As the doberman was increased in size and outcrossed, so was the miniture scaled down and outcrossed from the base breed.
But I was not listing it as a direct, but smaller version of any pincher in its own, sorry for the confusion.
Thanks guys! Well whatever he is, he is a very good boy. He and Harley both have been barking at the "ghosts" in this house every night since my mother-in-law left for a visit to MS. Scares the bejebies out of me when they start up, then I have to calm them down and tell them it's alright ;) I think he may be mixed with JRT.

frankly...he might be purebred...i have seen some breeders who do not breed to standards and some get to be pretty darn huge...even 20 plus pounders...i dont much like the idea...but cant hold it agaist the pooches...they are adorable...no matter if it is 9 pounds or 20...just love your babies...they look sweet...
He's cute regardless! My Pekingese Fancy weighs more than the average Pekingese she weighs about 18lbs which is the reason her previous owners gave her up that and bad allergies. When other Pekingese owners see her they always comment on how big she is for a Pekingese. I dont care though I love her just the same.
Sometimes with dogs it is hard to tell. I work for a law office and we had a case last year of a lady who had a Yorkie who was huge with floppy ears. She was mad because she thought she was had. The Vet that was called into the case said there are many breed standards however just like with humans there are many times they will look different or be larger than expected. I got quite mad at the lady because she acted as if it were not a Yorkie she didnt want it. The judge asked her what she wanted done about the case and she said she wanted her money back and to keep the dog...the breeder made a good point if you had a child and it grew bigger than what you expected would you go to god and demand a redo?!? The judge finally made her choose either to get her money back or keep the dog. She said she wanted the dog because she had grown attached and the jugde basically told her to quit whining about it and be happy with what you have...a healthy dog regardless of what it looks like.
I understand where you are coming from though, it is nice to know what breed you have. He looks very happy it is great he found a new loving home.
