where does it say she rehomed it because it slept alot and was too friendly???She rehomed the german spitz because it would refuse to come in her home. What was she supossed to do.........leave it outside????
her spitz came from a breeder not a shelter. So it probably didnt have such a Tragic life.Im not sure about her lab/cocker pup.
how can you say that she is not ready for a dog or that she has no heart. The breeder wouldnt of let her have the dog if thought she wasnt a good owner!!!
Hey pope hon, I didn't mean it like that. You always speak up for the animals and this time you really didn't have much to say. I feel like these two people are ganging up on me and they can't get it through their thick skulls that this woman is obviously nuts. Sorry pope for making you mad ... it's hard to read people's real emotions when you are not talking to them face to face.
msg #9 IP: Logged 7:37:08 AM 10/2/2005 cockerlover is right,i had lab/cocker who was truly aggressive around childrens but he truned out to be a great watchdog.....then i had this german spitz...he was amazing with childrens and with my family but alas...he was not a watchdog..he used to sleep all the time and only awakes when i come around...so i need a dog who is goodlooking and good with childrenss and bad with strangers....what about golden retriever and labrador and boxer??
She said he was amazing with children. I take that to mean he was friendly and good with kids. She said he was a bad watch dog because he slept all the time. What terrible reasons to give a dog away? Don't people get emotionally attached to their animals?
I have a GSD who would tear up my house while I was gone. He was fine when I was home. So guess what , I bought him a crate; stopped him. I decided to take him to obedience classes and with time he grew out of it. He is perfect. He is the GSD everyone wants. But guess what it took me two years to train him and make him what he is today. GSDs are puppies for a long time and people just dump them because they aren't the dog they see on TV. It just pisses me off.
It sounds like you have some deep rooted emotion about "dog dumping" which is great because we all need to be involved in stopping that but I think your feelings are misplaced on this thread. Katz found her dogs homes, she didn't dump them. There are other threads that your outburst might pertain to but I don't think this one is the one. jmo.
I don't remember seeing that she didn't try to make the dog be a watch dog. She said she wants a watch dog. How dare her try to look for something she wants in a dog. I am not condoning the rehoming of that dog, but hard telling why exactly she chose too. Don't you think you are making too big of a deal about this?
What difference is it to you why she REHOMED, not dumped off on the side of the road, not dropped of at the nearest shelter, not put a free dog ad in the paper, her dog??? Did someone give away one of your dogs as a kid or something? I see nowhere where it says she isn't emotionally attached to this dog. With Cheyanne, I never got emotionally attached. I tried, I picked her out a 5 weeks old. My friend who lives a few blocks away and Chey is almost a year old now and I still have NO attachment to her, I had the pup for 3 months and yet when I see her now, she is just another pom. No attachment. I can't explain it, it just was meant to be her dog. It does happen.
thank you,This maybe one reason she gave it away, which is wrong.I agree with you.But another reason was because it would not come in.I may not agre with a reason why someone gives it up,but I never jump down there throat, without being in there shoes.
dont you think you jumped on her a little to quick?have you neevr rehomed a dog?Not all dogs are fixable.i had a GSD that was Raised with cats and she always tried to kill them. That is one reason i rehomed her.i could neevr fix her.she went through 3 obedience classes with no difference in how she acted.
I have explained my reason for being upset about this. It is not fair to the dogs and that is how I feel. When have I time and time again tried to coach everyone on how to behave? There was twice that people were ganging up on someone for simply asking a question about what meds to give a dog. And once when everyone was fighting about their views on things. Everyone is going to have their own opinions and I thought a forum was a place where you could actually say how you feel about something. I realize that that is what I have done with this matter, however that is my opinion. I think this is another topic people are just going to have to agree to disagree. There is nothing one person here is going to say to change anyones point of view. I think now that it is getting out of hand. If she wants to go through other dogs because of the way they look or that they sleep all day then so be it. Let her do what she wants.
Some of you people just crack me all up I mean here is this katzpomdogz person whom is a very active byb on the web site america pet registry that you all have been griping about all day and here she is over here leaving the same post she leaves over there and she has no clue, Then you got the little troll crazyboutdogs or aka lovingthempuppies and she is she full of bs she stinks and then you got the byb lovingmyhubby whom needs to start loving her dogs and stop letting the other ones kill the babies. If a new person had come on here and stated that you people would have been all over them.

What in heck are you talking about???? Please show me where you find this because it is SOOOO not true!!! I honestly would like to see what you are talking about. Before you EVER start accusing me of ANYTHING you had BETTER be able to back it up!!!!
You shouldn't make jokes about a tragic accident that happened to my puppy. You are way out of line. By the way I didn't "let" my dog eat a puppy. It happened and I was very sad about it. Get your facts straight before you post.

This is pathetic and I do not have time for htis, it is 11:00 and I need to go to bed. Whoever, kiss is is a cruel and hurtful person who should not be on here. I thought one of the rules was to treat others with respect. I guess we have different views of what respect is......
msg #1 IP: Logged 9:47:01 PM 9/22/2005 why my lab puppy growls and try to bite me whenever i hold him to take him back to his crate after playing and eating?
well, yes iam agree he is very much alpha dog....i try to muzzle squeez...tap his nose...and many more actions wat other trainer suggested me....tho sum improvement came out...like he used to growl at me whenever i hold him ...but he does it now occaisionally..sumtimes i hold him and he does not do anything...sumtimes i hold him and he growls and try to bite....he even growls at me when he finds the bone....he doesnt let me take his bone away from him......this is pretty alpha....plz advice how can i establish myself as dominant so that he wont do these things again...as he getting 10 weeks old now.
iam trying NILF and everything what i get from other ppl....i contacted a trainer...he said to gain ALPHA leadership just roll the newspaper and hit slightly on his head and say no whenever he does bad....and sit on knees and growl at him.....this procidure is working enuff on my rocky......what i need to ask are two questions.
1 : even prescribed by a pro trainer,is it ok to hit him with a news paper slightly on his head and sitting on knees and growl at him whenever he does bad?
2 : how to be a alpha leader and wat are the signs that a puppy gives when thinks you as his leader?
hmm..thanks for suggesting me not to hit him...but then why a pro trainer suggested me this????
and my second question is still unanswered......how to be a alpha leader and what are those signs when a puppy thinks you as his alpha?
For goodness sake how can anyone say she tried her best with this dog .... she posted this question 9/22/2005. The poor thing is a puppy. You can't effectlively train the dog until he is about 4 months to 6 months old. My goodness how can anyone defend her.
I told you I didn't know the whole story, all I said is you shouldn't judge someone until you have been in their shoes. I DO disagree with the fact that a 10 week old puppy has any aggression at all. That seems odd to me. It makes you wonder where the dog came from.
