I just posted this same comment under the thread about repeat questions, but I think it needs repeating.
I think that should be a way to search a certain subject, instead of having to look through pages and pages of old posts. It's time consuming, and yes, aggravating.
If there were a search feature, I could understand people gettinng upset over repeat questions. It's not too bad if you have to go back only a few pages, but when you've already searched through the last 6 or more pages, that's when it starts to get irritating. People can't be expected to bookmark every page of interest . You would have a gazillion links in your bookmarks.
The only repeat question that bothers me is "what is best or worst dry/wet food." You can find discussons about dog on just sbout every other page, so you don't have to search back very far ... LOL.
I say we all vote yes to have a search option added to TP. Yes!!!
I know it would be extremely time consuming, but it might help avoid many of the repeat questions, too. Even if a search option is added to the recent subects only , it would be better than having none at all, and I would be more than willing to help search though old threads, if necessary to make it possible. Any other volunteers? :-)
that's a great idea. In the meantime if you are looking for a posters comment or a thread you recall that someone posted on you can Google search the user name. It doesn't seem to work by topic. Of course, we may run out of things to talk about if we don't talk about dry dog food any more!
The only problem with doing a Google search is that it brings up threads that are ancient . I see it all the time, especially from new members. Someone will look up ... hypothetically ... purple dogs ... and you get threads about purple dogs that are over a year old .. :-) Purple dogs ... lol.
Harlee, several days ago I found out that most or all discussion forum topics at TP have a link on the internet. Type in your search engine the discussion topic that you are interested in finding again, and you'll see a terrificpets.com link taking you to it.
Crazy, I must have missed it yesterday. I don't think I was on yesterday to be honest, but then again, I don't remeber what I ate for breakfast today either ... LOL.
Maggie, that was what I meant by using Google to search . Usually when you Google something, you get an ancient post brought back to life, instead of something recent. You see it almost weekly with a new member resurrecting a dead thread. It would be nice if subjects were sorted by date and on Google, they usually aren't.
