Was wondering if anyone had any idea how big she will be if she is 5.3 lbs at 15 weeks. The breeder we got her from said she'd top out about 4 lbs., well we have surpassed that obviously...I'm thinking she's gonna be 10 lbs or more!!
I think my chihuahua weighed around 4 lbs at 15 weeks old and now, at 1.5 years old, he weighs 9.3 lbs. So you will probably have a chi that is on the bigger side, which is okay...they're sturdier that way :)
Well thanks, I was so curious about her "top out" weight. I think I am glad she'll be on the bigger side. She seems to get her little feet stepped on too often cause she's so small, can't even see her behind your back and at your feet!!
I feed her 1/4 cup 3x's a day, as per the vet's instructions. She's really very slim and trim looking, so I know I'm not over feeding, I just think she's gonna be a bigger Chi than we thought. No biggy tho I think she's great no matter what!!
Well the amount of dog food would depend on what kind of dog food you are giving him. If the vet told you what to give your dog then I am pretty sure it is correct. Check the label anyway just to make sure the amount is correct. I have never fed a dog 3 times a day.
A lot depends on where you got your dog. A reputable breeder has a good idea of the size of their puppies when grown. A pet store/puppymiller/backyard breeder doesn't have a clue about anything except that your credit card/check was good.
Good point, and I have a good inclination that I unfortunately got mine from a backyard breeder. I did see the supposed mother and she was tiny....4-5 lbs. max, and the father I didn't see. Anyway I love my Chi (or whatever she is), she beautiful and very smart.
