I love it when my house smells fresh and clean. I currently have 5 dogs (4 are huge) indoors because I foster. How can I eliminate the nasty dog smell? My husband gives them all baths every weekend. He said it's just too many dogs breathing in my house. Please help me! The smells is driving me nuts. I feel like I live in a slum!
Well I find that burning my favorite candles over comes any dog smell. I have warmers I set on Christmas light timers to turn off and on at different times. I always keep fresh scents availible. My favorite is blueberry muffins.
Also you can buy some of this spray called "PURE CITRUS" Found at wal mart stores. Its around $4.00 a can but you only have to spray it once. It also comes in lemon scent. I personally like walking threw my house spraying it behind me. It will make your entire house smell like oranges for hours!
Also I LOVE the OZIUM Spray found at wal greens. Its $6.99 a can for the 70000C Can but it is well worth it! It smells like that renuzit solid that comes in the color blue.
Those may be pricey but they are well worth the money once you find out what a different in everyones life they make!
I've heard of that ozium stuff before, its supposed to actually clean the air or something like that. I have a police officer friend that says everytime he has had to search a teen's car and found pot he also finds a can of ozium because of "how well it gets rid of the smell in the car's their parents bought them." lol, if it works on the smell of pot i bet it works on the smell of dogs.
I actually do not have carpet. Carpet sucks up all the dirt and hides it. It's actually quite gross. I have wood and tile in my house. I use a hoover floor mate to clean my floors. I have big dogs and they don't smell quite as good as little dogs. My little dog is a princess. I can't bathe the big ones as often. I bathe the big ones every weekend because it takes me a good 2 hours to get them clean. I bought some glade plug ins today and more febreeze. I hope it works.
I have 3 dogs and I know what you mean. Also bathing the dogs so often can sometimes be hard on there skin. So I use puppy cologne daily and I have 3 febreeze machines in my house. You know the ones that use the discs. I go through about 2 discs a month in each machine because I run them all the time but what a difference. try them they are nice. I also have an ozinator (sp) you know ION Breeze thing. that takes the smell right out of the house. I just like to use a good smell too.
Thanks Ivy but I don't have a problem with urine smell. My dogs are housebroken and I don't have carpet. I am talking about just everyday dog smell. I don't want people walking in and they first thing that gets them at the door is the stench of dog.
My dogs invariably get on my couch when I leave and though we've repeatedly trained and arranged couches so they can't get up there, we get lazy. Now our couches always smell like "dog" even with professional cleanings. I had an old spray foam bottle of stuff that I had to really search to find again, come to find out that it's only distributed to commercial business now, and I had to order through our carpet store OR office supply dealer. It's Arm & Hammer's Fabric & Carpet Foam Deodorizer. It's about $6 a can and totally worth every penny. I lightly spray my couches and carpets and though perfumey for a few hours (open windows) the next day your furnishings smell NEUTRAL. You won't believe it. It's great stuff!
I have found the air fresheners that run are a time are nice. For my furniture I have a brand called Paws Off coverings. They wash so easily and all stains, hair and smells are removed and the smells don't penetrate to the fabrics below. They also sell 'dry shampoo' that you can spray on your dogs in between baths.
