As most of you know I have 2 beautiful Basset Hounds, which means lots of ear care. I got some ear cleaner from our vet.AloCetic is one of them.It works really good, but she goes crazy if I use it.I think it makes her ears itch.I haveRXV cleaner too it does not work as good as the other. What do you guys use?Roscoe could care less what I use just as long as you are rubbing his ears!)
What about dog conditioner? Flash has a beautiful red coat. What is good for making it shiny, besides good dog food?
I use Hylyt shampoo and conditioner. The combo works great. The conditioner even makes my hands soft. You can buy them at your vets office or you can probably find it online. PetSmart may have it. I'm not sure. As far as ear cleaning some products out there you can purchase from your vet are: Otifoam, Oticalm, DermaPet. All of them work great, but the dog's don't usually like it. There's really nothing though I can think of that they don't mind being put in their ear. I mean who likes liquid drizzled down inside their ear? Anyway, ask your vet about those. There is a home formula, but right now I can't remember what it is exactly. I'm so used to using the stuff already made for you. Good luck!
Funny, I was just at the vets today and picked up the cleaner we use - try Vet Solution - it cleans, deodorizes and has aloe vera in it. Bianca has been battling a yeast infection in her ears so we have an antibiotic to use also. She just hates to have anything put in her ears but loves to have them rubbed.
Perhaps the product has alot of alcohol in it, that would make the ears sting a bit. Ask your vet for a product that is less irritating.Or don't pour the product into the ear, instead put some on a peice of cotton and wipe the ears out. Its to bad you couldn't learn how to flush the dogs ears, does a better job, more thorough.
You know, I just use apple cider vinegar cut with water to clear the wax out of Bijou's ears. Works like a charm and it's not that big a deal if she tries to eat it... Which she does for just about everything.
