Every once in a while, My dog max does a "Crazy Run." If he does something bad and I yell at him or even if he just gets hyper, he will start running around extremely crazy. When he does this, he will run up to you and bark, and sometimes even jump and bite your hands....even if i turn around and walk away, he will even bite my butt sometimes!!! Now Max is the nicest dog ever....so kind and gentle...except when he gets in those MOODS. Is this common for puppies?? Will he grow out of it? What is the best way to stop him from doing this. Everyone has so much insight on this website I really love everyone's opinions!!
I would interpret this as energy that needs to be burned off.Does he get enough exercise on a daily basis, enough to tire himself out? If he barks at you or bites you, thats his way of trying to get you to respond to him, play with him.
thos ewould be the "zomies' my eskies get them all the time. last nite, for no reason, snoopy did figue 8's around the living and dining room for about 10 minutes, barking hlike a fool, for no reason. i just get up somewhere higher than he, out of the danger path. :)
HAHA, those are some funny stories. I guess its maybe not such a bad thing afterall....i just get embarassed when guests are over, they think my dog is vicious!!
But it's funny that you mentioned figure 8's. That's what max will do in the family room. Run in figure 8's around the coffee table, leaving TONS of Claw marks in the carpet!! He also does the "ZOOMIES" if i give him a new treat like a Greenie. He will pick it up and drop it in the family room, then run around it growling and all crazy.
Zoey will "spaz out" as I call it, when she gets all excited. She will run around my dad's chair, down the hall, back into the living room and around the chair a couple of times before she finally wears herself out. It's hilarious to watch because she's so little and so low to the ground. She's a funny puppy..
My Corgi puppy spazzes out too. It usually only happens when my dad plays with her and acts stupid himself. Then she gets all riled up and starts running through the house like a crazy fool. She would run all the way to the front of the house, then turn back and zoom straigh onto the couch, jump back down, keep running, rinse and repeat.
Usually when she gets in those moods, we just get out of her way. She doesn't bite but sometimes she'll accidentally scratch because if you stand in her way, she's either going to A) run straight into you or B) jump on you.
It's really hilarious when dogs get into crazy "zoomies" moods like that though. But unfortunately, people who don't own dogs will think that they're vicious and get scared. In reality, I think it's just a bunch of dogs that are bored and trying to relieve extra energy.
