My mother & father in law have this cat named Alex "Al" he is 20 years old. He is having a hard time walking and has bad cat dander (sp)? All he dose is lay around. The cat has had a full life he has been to Japan twice and Egypt Hawaii well all over the world (Military Family) Well he is just getting old and they can't put him down because he is older then 2 of there own kids. His qualty of life is ok for an old fart he is the only cat I know who begs for food. But should someone put him down or let him die on his own?
If his quality of life is ok why would you put him down?! Old animals get ugly, that doesnt mena they are ready to die. I have seen some yorkies that are only five and I wnat to put them out of my misery. When it gets to the point that the cat has mroe bad then good days is when you make the decision. Have they tired treating the arthritis(I'm guessing he has) so he can walk any better. I've heard there are things that work wonders for cats.

nothing wrong with being an "old fart" . i am getting close to being one myself ! lol . i just cant see putting an animal to sleep just because he is one. it doesnt sound like hes suffering. and unless he is truly suffering, let him live out the rest of his years , however many he does have left.
