There was a terrible fire in my area recently. An eight-year-old child heard his electric blanket start "sparking" and ran to tell his mother. She got everyone out of the house and then they watched it burn down.
I saw the house on the television news and it looked pretty much a loss. Then the Fire Chief got on camera and talked about how electric blankets don't last that long and should be checked for frayed wires every year.
I was talking to someone at work about this and pointed out that I had used the same "blanket" for ten years and hoped to go on using it for at least five more. They were horrified. I said that I was pretty sure that my "blanket" was perfectly safe, but that he was getting older and sometimes had to be helped into bed. I said that my "blanket" also had lovely white curls and would snuggle up to me very close when the house was cold.
Then one of them hit his head and started to laugh, "She's talking about her DOG, people." They all agreed that I am a nut and went on about their business.
I don't understand. Electric blankets. Now, really, isn't a dog better than an electric blanket any day? Even on the X-Files, I have never heard of a dog bursting into flames and burning down a house.
That's cute! I recently (over the last couple of years) did get an electric blanket & used it quite a bit, but I just recently (4 weeks ago) got a dog & I am letting him sleep with me for just that particular reason. I have yet to turn on my heat... but I have noticed that the other apartments have turned on theirs & they don't have a dog. Ha
Lol, 8?!?! Wow, Just Shadow takes up more than half my bed, and she is only a little larger than a beagle with lots of muscel. Sometimes she makes me too warm, which is why both she and I rather her sleep on the floor during the hot summer.
i would never sleep under an electric blanket. i am afraid of short circuits and shocks. my two frenchies and two cats are all the warmth i need at night.i have two french bulldogs cuddled up to my side and two cats that feel like ear muffs on my pillow. i even get soft snoring and purring for music. and even an occasional head massage from phatboy the cat. what more could a person ask for ? lol
How many toy poodles equal one standard poodle? I would think about six to one, seeing as how your poodles have to weigh about ten pounds and my standard is 65. However, we should factor in the amount of space that legs take up.
Since eight toy poodles have 32 legs, perhaps the ratio should be more like 4 to 1?
Is there a scientific method for determining how many toys equal a "normal" size dog?
Wasn't there a song about that? Wasn't it called "three-dog night?" Or was that a rock group...
Eight?!? My one toy poodle takes up the whole bed. I would never be able to sleep in my bed again if there were seven more taking up as much room as he does. He is quite funny when it comes to sleeping, I feel his little feet all night trying to push me out of "his" space!

Well,we used to have an electric blankie, until the dogs had other ideas.......
One night last winter before heading to the shower we went in the bedroom to "pre heat" our bed and noticed that the light didnt come on to the switch.Soon to notice that the end of the wire was mysteriously chewed off LOL!
Guess that was their way of saying "You dont need that,we will be glad to add extra warmth =) "
Now when its cold, it's me,hubby and a 70lb blanket and a 65lb blanket in bed lol.
I have to go with the double coated breeds for blankets. We have four ranging between 40 and 50#. Last night was a two dog night. Riki will be a literal blanket, draping her*princess*self accross either of us when she chooses. Raja likes to be a butt warmer if mom (me) is curled on her side. Romi is the foot warmer. Redd, being the oldest sleeps where ever she wants (usually in the middle of the bed). Fortunately, we have a King size bed. Does anyone know if they make anything bigger?? LOL
I read a lot of Laurel K. Hamilton books. The Meredith Gentry series is always fun with the magic in modern America. I want the queens orgy size bed. If it's big enough to hold 10 adults it's big enough for two adults and four dogs. Heck with a bed that size, the cats could come in too.
