xanimalxloverx, yeah, there is crime everywhere, just some places more than others. What part of the UK are you from? Funny story about "scary america" vs other countries. My sister visted Campton, England a few years ago. She had a rough time actually and ended up staying with complete strangers! Some guys from the ivory coast in africa that had relocated there. And most of them only spoke french. She said there was no way she would ever go stay with someone she didn't know here, it's unheard of...I would never, ever, ever, do that. She said she just had a different feeling about the people there. The were quite nice and hospitable.
I spend alot of my free summer time in Wasaga Beach. Weve been In Barrie a few times of course, My Sister works for Value Village in Mississauga, so of course we have to visit the Value Village in Barrie.
I really want to live in Wasaga Beach, and work there, I have somewhere to live during the summer, but I need a place to live during the Winter months. It could be hard to do with pets as well. I am totally in Love with the area, I really miss it during the Fall and Winter. Its not the Beach, its just the small town atmosphere, and the open spaces. Do you commute anywhere for work??
Ahh yeah I agree Wasaga Beach is lovely in the summer!! Have you ever seen it in the winter though? This picture was taken there last January lol. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b122/Keesha63/CopyofThisiswhypeopledontgotoWasaga.jpg I quit my fulltime job this past July to spend time with my puppy during the summer. I did however spend 2 yrs driving 30 minutes north of here to work. I loved the place I was working in but driving home at 8 in the morning in a snowsqualls was terrifying. The last winter I was there was a particularly bad winter and for almost half my shifts I needed to turn back after a few minutes because I couldn't see anything! That's the problem with squalls. They run in bands coming off Lake Huron. Sometimes I would leave Barrie and there wouldn't be a cloud in the sky...I'd get 5 kms out of town and literally I couldn't see the hood of my car!
What??, is that person wearing Shorts?? Anyway, yikes, I do ask people about winter around there, but they are so vague about it. It still doesn't change my mind. I'm not a huge winter fan., but still.... .......Hey, are they good about clearing the roads?? Hey, Ever Hear of Bell's Maple Park, by the Water Kingdom?
Hey Sue, yep that insane person is my New Zealand born husband. He wears shorts all year round and has been know to shovel snow in his bare feet. Can I count the number of times people have pointed at him and asked "Is he alright?" nahh gave that up a few years ago. He has been know to shout out at the normally dressed winter folk "ahhh you aren't tough enough to live in this country!" :) I haven't heard of that place you mentioned in Wasaga...but I do know Canine Connection well. Took Maggie there for her obedience training and doggie daycare. Excellent place! They use positive reinforcment only. No spiked, or choke type collars allowed. Well run...excellent staff.
ChiPom, im from suffolk, england. I'm quite lucky actually, some parts of the UK i would never visit but its ok here. I grew up a little way from suffolk and it was a REALLY rough place and i have kind of grown up a little bit rough too but i never ever show it or use it!! I actually think it is better to sleep out on a street somewhere than stay with someone i dont know around here, at night it's scary in the town. But im usually down there anyway. I think london is the roughest part of UK though .. from my experiance anyway lol.
I would never go home with anyone anywhere....I think she was temporayily insane from her flu. Is it true that most people do not own guns in england? I live in the south, and the average person owns a firearm. There's not too many plces in Florida that are really scary...well Miami. I live in central florida, and that's the area the local news covers. So you're always hearing about wacky stuff people are donig on orlando (that's the city where disney world is.) I'm not sure where this man was from, probably orlando, but he broke into a vet's office and stole cat tranquilizers (sp?). People take them to get high or something? The alarm went off and the cops showed up and chased him down. They found him dead in the street though when they caught up. He had jumped through a pane glass window and bled to death! Stupid, not scary, lol.
ChiPom, lol yeah it is true about the guns. We have two but thats only for shotting the rats, mice and shooting at the targets on the post. so no one actually has them to defend themselves. I have been to florida so many times, i love it there. i havent been to miami though. Im not really sure where i would like to move to. I'd have to have a look round first before i settle into a place that is kind of scary .. that will be all my dad needs lol
Ah right, the english and the hunt, lol. We have one for protection actually. There are so many little historical towns here, very small and cute. Gainesville is a nice town. It's home to UF (university of florida.) Move to New York City and make your father poop his pants, lol.
lol yeah, i cound try that. i'm against hunting, i usually have a go at my dad when he pulls out his gun and looking at some kind of animal! even if it is a rat, i still think its wrong but thats me. thank you for your help by the way!
