I just moved into an apartment, where the previous owners let their animals use their carpet for their own personal toilet. I just purchased a puppy (which I get Nov. 18th) and I don't want her to smell it and think.. "Ohhh, i'm supposed to potty here." I have a carpet shampoo device thingy... lol. Yet, i'm not sure that the carpet shampoo alone will do the job. ANYBODY have any ideas on this matter? Pleaseee, i'm desperate.
You can also use white vinegar, which kills just about as many nasties as bleach can without ruining your carpets. This will not only help freshen the house (yes it will smell a bit pickly) but, it will kill, fungus, mites, bacteria and more when applied. Just put it strait into a pump bottle and spray it all over the carpets unti damp. In bad spot soak it a bit more. Let it sit, then shampoo the carpets.
If the carpet is really bad, aren't appartment complex's suppose to go in and paint and recarpet if its bad. Maybe if you talked to them you might could get some new carpet out of it. That would be great, wouldn't it?
