There is this yorkie that some1 has been letting run around. it gets in every1s garabage and ppl are always complaining. well one day it came here. i couldn't bear to ignore what i saw... it had a collar, but the inside where it was against its neck was black. the collar was yellow. i got it and gave it a bath and feed and brushed it. after that the dog won't go home. his home is only 5 houses down. we called the ppl and one of their kids would come and get the dog, but when they let it out ( letting it out meaning just run around the neighbor hood) it comes straight here and scratches at my door. I have even asked them if i can buy the dog off of them. The husband says he could care less, but wife doesn't say anything. any advice? the poor lil thing wants to stay here, but i feel like if i keep him its stealing even though he isn't tooken care of very well by his owners.
you poor thing what a dilemma for you; I guess you could go and speak to the lady owner saying you know how hard it would be for her to let him go but that you are so attached to hm etc etc, grovel grovel to make her feel as if she is doing you the favor not the other way around, You could say that she could come a visit the baby, it is just down the road etc. That way she can say yes to you with out loosing face. I do feel for you as it sounds as if this little dog has chosen you as his mum. Our puppy did that, i had paid a deposit on a dog but it was his brother who wanted to live with us and it was his brother i took home. i have not regretted listening to the dog! Good luck;
it doesn't have tags.. just a collar, the ppl only live 5 houses so if they see him they would know its their dog. he has hair that is very rough.. its better now since i washed him and brushed him, but u can tell a diff. i haven't seen hair on a yorkie like him.. its very thin and some spots no hair at all, so they can tell its theirs.
her husband and mine have tried to talk to her. the kids have even said they had to chase their dog to get him cause he don't wanna leave. but she just shrugs her shoulders and goes inside. more then a couple ppl around here have told her she needs to keep the dog on a leash or chain cause they have almost run over it and can't stand it digging in their trash. the poor lil thing has no street smart.
i just noticed it pooping and checked it.. it is packed with these lil flat long ( bout 1/4 in long) worms.. what kind is that? i have worming meds for hook and round, but don't know what they look like.
i guess she really does not care about the little dog or she would do what was best for it; I guess you could just look after it when he came down to see you and ring her up to say you have him and if she wants him to come and collect him; If she is lazy she probably will not be bothered; But i can see it is not going to be easy for you and your heart will break to see the little thing so badly treated.
Well, if they can not give you some sort of answer, stop telling them the dog came over. When he comes over, bring him in and take care of him. If he wants out, go with him or shut your gate if you have one. Now if they ask you if you have the dog, of course tell them yeah, but it didn't want to leave so.....If they get confrontational, just say you didn't bother calling because he'd just come right back. No dog should be left to his own devices and allowed to run free, but a yorkie? He's way too little. He could be attacked by a bigger dog. It's pretty simlpe. Keep him until he wants to go home or until they come looking for him.
for 2 days now i havn't called, nor has she sent her kid here to get the dog or even asked. i let him out side in the fenced back yard, but i know there are spots he can get out, but he doesn't bother. he does his thing and come to the door. i was about to call them, but maybe i won't this time. my pom loves him and they play so much. i guess i feel if i don't call i'm tring to steal him. and yes there are big and i mean big dogs running around here. but i am concerned about them worms and what type they may be. i know he has had to have them for a while cause they are big and in one lil poop there was 5 of them. if my worming meds won't kill that kind i will get some that will, but i don't know what kind it is, and i know they won't treat him.
OH NO! Oh my goodness, that's horrible. I hope the meds will clear them up. Don't bother calling them. If they come around asking, then give him back. You're not stealing him, they know where he is...they just don't care.
hehe i wish that would work.. i offered them 200.. the man was ready to take it in a heart beat, but he said he had to ok it with her, and he said she didn't say anything. i will try the add thing, i'm thinking maybe i should take it to the vet and get his condition on paper too
Just come out and tell her LOOK! your dog has worms now do you want him or not ? if you don't i will take him in, and have her to sign some type of paper's saying she gave him to you . also let her know you can't stand seeing him with worms. and that your'e willing to take him to the vet and get help for him .now if you decide to not give him to me then you will have to keep your door on a lease b/c other pets can catch something from him sniffing behind his stool and it's not fair. to other animals.CALL FREE LEGAL AID LAWYERS and get advice on what to do if you decide to take this little guy in and pay for his vets bill .b/c he keep coming down to your house with a belly full of worms and the owner don't care . and plus he has no lease on him. what is my rights to this animal?
it could be tapeworms. they come out flat and long and shrink up like pieces of rice. for tapeworms, the pills have to come from the vet. you could call your vet and maybe take a stool sample in to get the proper diagnosis. tapeworms need to be treated immediately. they can suck all the nutrients out of a dogs body fast.
If any one was concerned, they would house the dog properly. If my dog ran to my neighbours, I would be freaking. It doesn't sound like they really want the dog. Just keep it, or call them and tell them you want the dog for your family.
I had the same problem with Cinder. It took me a long time to get her but I just kept mentioning that I really wanted her and that she would be an inside cat, etc. I was ready and willing just to take the cat if they said I couldn't have her. Luckily they did agree to let me have her but I would have taken her regardless, unless they started caring for her. I say go to the wife with a check in hand for the $200 that you offered her and tell her you want to buy the dog because it needs medical attention and you have fallen in love with the dog. If she says no, tell her that the dog WILL get medical attention and she will get a bill then. You may want to mention that neglecting a dogs medical issues IS animal Cruelty and you feel that if she does not allow you to get medical care for the dog you will feel obligated to report her. See if she changes her mind about it then.
that may be true shiree , but a vet will not prescribe tapeworm medicine unless they can verify that they actually ARE tapeworms. roundworm meds that you buy over the counter will have no affect on killing the tapeworms. you have to take in a stool sample so that they can be sure of exactly what type of worms they are.
