My finance goes to work at 3am. He always lets the dogs out to go potty while he is getting ready for work. Well this morning around 2:30am he let them out and went about his way doing his stuff. He went to let everyone in about 15 minutes later and Diamond my female Rottweiler was gone. He called and called her for about 20 minutes before waking me up to tell me. He had to call his job and let them know he was going to be late. We both jump in our cars and he went one way and I went the other. We couldnt find her anywhere. Well we continued to look and call her until the sun came up. I told him to go ahead and go to work and I would look some more. Well when the sun came up I jumped back in the car and went looking some more. I found her about 3 miles away near a horse farm. She was soaking wet and muddy all over. I have to metion that I just got a new car yesterday so Diamond has now christined it....LOL...anyway she is home and safe and sound but the scary part is, I have no idea how she got out of the yard. She is sleeping very hard now so later when she gets up I am going to have to watch her in the yard and see how she got out.
it is scary when they run off because there are so many things that can get them hurt out there. i would imagine also that not many people are going to try and catch a rottweiler. my one dog is an escape artist. he has gotten out a few times but he always comes home on his own. we can't go chasing him because he then thinks it is a game and runs even more. so now when it happens which isn't often we just let him be and he usually returns in about 30 minutes.
That is scary when they do get out.Tigger got out last Fall, our nieghbors called us and told us she went to their house. She was sitting on their porch. She got out because the batteries on the reciever where low,my fault for not replacing them.
All of my dogs and my two cats are microchipped I wouldnt have it any other way. But I live out in the country and the scary part is her getting hit by a car, someone picking or up or another dog or something getting a hold of her. We have a neighbor that lives about a mile down the road that has a few Pit Bulls outside all on chains and they are all aggressive so I was really worried about her wondering down there. She is a very sweet and loving girl and thinks the world is her friend and has no fear of anything. She is not street smart either. Most people out here allow their dogs to roam. I could never do that. To many harmful things out there.
