I have a Lhasa Apso, which is similar to a Shih Tzu, which according to an earlier poster are similar to poodles. My Lhasa, which is full bred, has curly hair on his back, right where his back meets his tail. His tail is super straight and frizzy, and then the rest of him is straight and super soft. Except, the hair on the top of his head is curly or wavy. I don't know if it will change as his hair gets longer.
LOL, I have a lhasa apso (3 1/2 months old) and he's got straight hair. My golden had a "cowlick" on his back though. LOL. Anyway, my daughter's friends' parents had maltese pups over the summer and from the pics I saw they did have a wave in their hair, but as they grew it straightened. My bichon frise obviously has curly hair (and he's white) LOL He was not as curly when we got him as he is now! (he's 7 months old)
Coat and Color The coat is single, that is, without undercoat. It hangs long, flat, and silky over the sides of the body almost, if not quite, to the ground. The long head-hair may be tied up in a topknot or it may be left hanging. Any suggestion of kinkiness, curliness, or woolly texture is objectionable. Color, pure white. Light tan or lemon on the ears is permissible, but not desirable.
all the years i have done maltese rescue and with all the research i have done ,i have never seen a blonde(lemon) maltese. but if you have a picture or website with a picture, i sure would love to see it.i have still yet to see one with the light tan or lemon on the ears.
i did some googling on the colors and i found this
i am no way douting what someone else belives as far as maltese coloring , i did do more searching and it has brought me to both websites i already shared, if anyone has another, i would love to see it.
Hey Winnie, Thanks for the info. I only just learned about a "lemon" maltese in my search for another dog. I haven't seen one either, I think I initially heard about them on this site. You know how that goes. :) I'll let you know if I see one in an ad. :)
