All this talk about puppy mills. How do you know what you are getting? I got my boston from family and she is a great dog. Goes everywhere including vacation.
We would like another dog but we do not want to go to a pet store. We have been looking on this site at puppies but we are reading to many stories about mills.
Any advice? We prefer small dogs.
Yes we try adopting but have been turned down because we do not have a fenced in yard. How ever our dog gets walked 2-3 times a day and goes to the park for pooches 2-3 times a month for socialization.
Ok, We spend 2 weekends a month at the doggie park "parks for pooches". Only to find out that we love small dogs. All of them. We talk with several people there about their pets.
The main problem is we live in Pa and we actually see the puppy mills and we cry. A pictures says a thousand words and if any pics every got displayed I don't think that these places would be in business anymore.
We have join a boston terrier club locally and looked at yorkies clubs. However, we don't want a yappy dog. There is a dog that is across the street and it barks all day and night. We wonder if something is wrong with it.
We have been researching dogs for over 3 years. We even found a web site where we would enter information on various items like yard size, house size, personality, exercise, work hours, etc. The site narrowed the types of dogs to 6 and from there we made the list into 2 until we went to the doggie park. We love going there and we would love a dog that would enjoy it as much.
Dogs are just so amazing. I know human are the master but dogs to have a lot to teach us!!!!
Try the pound not a rescue but the pound. The pound is not picky since they are just going to kill the dogs in a week or so. Seriously, call the pound every day and ask for a small dog. You might not find a purebred dog right away but I am sure you will find many poodle mixes.
I have no idea why a small dog would need a fenced yard. I would not give up on the idea of saving a life. Go to the pound. They do get small dogs although they are adopted quickly. I would also check the newspaper because some people move or have babies and decide they can't have a dog anymore. I saw 3 ads today giving their dogs away for free due to new baby. Ughh!
