i know gross... but her poo is sticking to her fur on her butt a lot more than usual. I called the vet and the lady said to trim it w/ scissors. I dont know if Sasha will stay still. But do you just trim it like regular hair? as close as possible?
Go to the store and buy the cheapest clippers you can find. They have some at Sears for $9.49. It's the Conair HC100RCS Hair Cutting Kit. It's for all lengths and hair styles 4-in-1 attachments. You can't cut her butt if you use the clippers and you can really do a close shave. I know this sounds gross but I have wiped animal butts with warm diaper wipes also. They sleep with me and lay on my pillows. I have to make sure I am not putting my head and face on fecal matter even if it is trace amounts.
It's the kind people use to cut their hair. It comes with blade guards so you don't cut the skin. They come in different lengths so you can choose how short or long you cut the hair. I use an electric clipper. You can get it at sears for $9.49 and you can get one with more attachments from target for $14.99
I would suggest, have someone hold her still and comb out the hair in that area. And wash her bum, wet it soap it, give it a good scrub and rinse well.Towel dry, hopefully some of the poop will soften and combing won't be difficult. If you want to clip it with clippers, be oh so careful to not nik the rectum area. And even more so with the scissors.
Washing her bottom will remove the current dirt but it won't prevent it from happening again. Just use clippers with guards so you won't cut her. Keep the hair short will stop poop from getting caught on her bottom. I wipe my dogs bottom with warm antibacterial wipes after every bowel movement. I also clipped the hair around her rectum to prevent sticking.
Clipping or shaving the hair is a great idea. If you can't have someone hold her, you can always wrap her in a towel. I have to do that with my cat when I trim her nails because she'll bite you if she can! I think you could probably also take a cat to a groomer if you're really uncomfortable with trying it yourself. Good luck.
I'm sorry, but this is the funniest post I've read today. Poor kitty It reminds me of a joke: A bear and a rabbit were in the woods doing their business. The bear asked the rabbit if he had a problem with poop sticking to his fur and the rabbit said "no", so the bear picked him up and wiped his bum with him..... okok maybe it's more of a visual joke.. but seriously, you are in for a bit of a wrestling match with kitty and the towel sounds like a good idea. Have you changed kitty's food recently? I might have it checked out by a vet to be sure kit doesn't have worms.....
