None of my dogs are food aggressive, with us or with each other. They will lick a pot together given half a chance (if they can both get their heads in). Even my akita wasn't food aggressive with humans, but a bad run in with her brother (who was very food oriented) did make her hover over her food when Bowen came within a foot or so.. she never growled but she just became very restless.
Mia the smallest dog in my house is toy aggressive with the big dogs but thats only because they will take them from her if she doesn't act mean. She growls but hasn't ever snapped at any of them. Its kinda funny she will hoard toys all around her then protect them as if they were her babies.
No food agression here. They may shove their faces into the dish (amusing when there is water in hteir food) but no agression, teeth bareing, eye contact or anything. Most of my dogs are fed communaly as well so they are used to sharing a dish.
salty can be food aggressive and toy aggressive .... but it is sporadic ...... and it is never with us only the other animals.
thunder can be aggressive with bones ... to us and the other animals ....... that is also sporadic ..... you never know when he is gonna act that way but it doesnt stop us from taking whatever it is away from him anyway.
Well Caesar got me last night for trying to get a plastic cheeese wrapper out of his mouth,he didnt brake the skin just left a mark and a bruise.I contacted my trainer immedeitly and she said only take something out of his mouth when I can correct him. That time I was in the car and couldnt. It funny he isnt food aggressive with anyone, you can out your hands in his food bowl with no problem.
Lacie isnt toy or food aggressive......only with the cat.
Jake doesnt like people taking bones out of his mouth, but he never bites just growls alittle.
bear could care less, you can do anything you want with him.
Neither of my dogs are aggressive towards me - they know better. With each other, they are both food and toy aggressive. Not with non-edible toys (they often play tug of war with pull toys), but with bones, pig ears, etc. Usually they just grumble at each other if one gets a little close. I ahve to keep them completely seperated when I give them anything food-related. My younger one learned the hard way when my older one caught her in her food bowl. I had to make adjustments after that.
Neither one for Bijou! Most of the time I actually wish she was a little more assertive in the food department. When my mother's puppy comes in to take anything she's eating, she just steps back and pouts!
None of my dogs are aggressive with me, but my famale dobe has to be in a room all by herself to eat...it's ugly if any of the other dogs even look at her while she is eating. I can take anything from her though.
My dog food usually just lays there in the bowl. It never causes any trouble. Baw ha ha!!! Seriously though, both of my dogs are food and toy aggressive. They are just like kids. I can have two exact same toys and they will fight over one. Same with the bowls of food.
Our Cody is not aggressive with food or toy, he sits and waits for his food and I can put my hand in his mouth or on his food and/or dish and he will not do anything. This is one of the first things I teach our dogs because if a friend brings a little one I want to know that Cody isn't going to be agressive if the little reaches for the dish. Don't get me wrong, I realize even the best dog can change his habit so when Cody is eating and little ones are around I am in the kitchen working so I can keep an eye on things just to make sure nothing does happen.
snickers is food aggressive with the other dogs, but not with people. she will eat next to pearl and be fine if pearl stays out of her food, but if mocha gets within 2 feet she will light into him, growling- not biting. none are toy aggressive.
This behavior is absolutely not allowed in my house by any animal. I train my puppies to let me take food or toys from them, allow their paws to be handled and take pills (I used little balls of cheese for this).
They are a bit bone-agressive (is that a word?) with the "granddogs," so we take up all the bones before the girls come to visit.
I do not allow it in my home. I put a stop to it right away before they get older. My husbands families dog is mean! If you touch his toys food treats anything he will bite and bite to draw blood! They think it is funny I do not! I told them I would never allow a dog to get to that point. They say its his stuff and he can defend it. I say I am the master and he will respect me if I need to get into the food for some reason. You know maybe you see a bug or something is going to hurt the dog. The dog needs to know you have control over them not the other way around.
