Hi, I'm new to the group and found it by searching puggle rescue group on yahoo search.
The reason for the search is because I volunteer for a local Pug rescue group. We've recently, over the past year had a huge increase in Puggles coming into rescue. Honestly, I knew this would happen when I first learned of the "new" breed showing up in the pet stores. I also had a neighbor who had a Puggle puppy. Honestly, she was young (nothing wrong with that), but had absolutely no idea HOW to raise or deal with this puppy. She was totally wild and uncontrolable. They left her outside in the mud 90% of the time. I was horrified. And before I could say or do anything about it...she moved away. That's not to say that all Puggles are wild and uncontrolable, but there's two points we all know. 1. never buy a pet from a pet store 2. never buy a pet without doing proper research on the breed first. Then, there's those personality and behavior issues that can surface when combining breeds. I honestly don't believe that the laid back, nature of a Pug should be combined with anything. The proof is in the pudding folks. Just do some research...shelters are filling up with Puggles, and we haven't the room or the money. So, I'm looking for a Puggle rescue to refer people to since we can no longer take them. Please contact me if you know of one, especially in the Midwest. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for your responses and support. From my research, most Pug rescues are currently really full right now, so I thought I'd try beagle rescues. At least until someone starts a Puggle rescue.
There have been a number of organizations who have been trying like the devil to get Oprah to do a show on puppy mills. Have you heard of this? And, I wonder why after thousands of signatures on petitions...I've signed a couple, she still refuses to address the subject? And would someone else be more willing or effective like Montel Williams? Just kind of thinking out loud.

my guess is that Oprah is not dog hater, but she is a buisness women. She is very successful person, people do not get successful by doing things that do not sell. This is why i think mixing money with things you love is bad. money is the most addicting thing in the world. ask yourself this. I am not going to spend accept or give any money, because i wuit money. it almost throws me into a small panice. i distinctly hear in my head. I could not live with out money? i need it? how would i get along? i sound like a drug addict. that is cause i am. so to keep things i love, i can never do them for money at all. even i fi i tell myself i want to do it cause i love it. i will eventually do it for the money. i have seen a thousand times.
What I'm wondering is why people are trying to create new "designer" breeds when there are TONS of dogs, both mixed breed and purebred dogs getting murdered in shelters every day bc nobody adopts them?????????

Very true Acey. Sad, but true. Of course these "designer" breeds are cute. To me, ANY animal is cute. It just bothers me that so many animals are put down each year, simply bc no one wants them, yet people are trying to create new breeds. What is going to happen to alot of these new breeds once the novelty wears off? The same thing - it's a never-ending cycle.
