My current doggie...was $1600 plus 1/2 a case of really good wine for my cuddly, Dogue de Bordeaux.
I also have paid a wide price range for previous buddies ranging from $250-$2,000. Previous breeds include an excellent Bullmastiff, a wonderful Rottweiler and a down right nasty but loving Bouviers des Flandres
I paid $500 to take Merphy, my Lhasa Apso, out the door of the pet store.
In the 6 months since...I have paid a good $3000 keeping him healthy, clean, and happy. He has a ton of toys. Obedience classes. Training treats for obedience classes. Vaccinations. So many visits to the vet because I'm a spazz. Allergy medication. Getting him neutered. Three collars, two harnesses and five leashes (my fault). Carpet cleaning. Replacing my dads diabetic shoe thingy that he keeps chewing up. Food. Paying the guy to come pick up his dirty work.
The initial $500 is nothing compared to the long term care...but worth every penny and more!
i adopted most of them but i purchased william my cocker spanial he was $400 red and white party and then at 8 months old he and i were walking and i stepped on a copper head and william grabbed that big old snake before he could bite me and it bit him instead 1800.00 later and 4 days in ICU he was all better. i will tell you this that pup is and will always be worth what ever money i need to spend on him... sniff..sniff i sure do love that little pup!
