Cinder can be the sweetest cat in the entire world, all day long, just a total doll. Then my husband will get home and she wants nothing to do with me, which is fine. But then when we are in bed, I am not allowed to get near him. She will come and lay next to him, and if I try to touch his arm, she will turn into psycho-bitch kitty. I am dead serious, she will start growling, and if I do not let up, she will spit at me. We usually put her on the floor but she jumps right back up there threatening me. He can pet her and she will rub up against him, if I try, I will more then likely get bit or scratched. Usually after about half an hour of getting her off the bed, she will stop but if we start "getting intimate" at all. She comes FLYING up on the bed trying to attack me.
If he gets up and goes into the other room, Cinder is a total sweety again, but when he comes back in, she hates me again.
We have to let her sleep in our room because she hates the other cats and will attack Asha. Asha and Tiocy won't go in our room because that has become Cinders space.
It is funny because she changes so quickly but I am getting scared she is going to kill me in my sleep if I roll over and put my arm on MY husband.
She is like a jealous girlfriend from hell!!
I seriousely think she thinks that I am going to steal HER man........!
I don't know what to do with her, as long as we are in bed and I do not touch my husband at all, she is fine, although she watches me pretty intently.

Any ideas on what to about my psycho cat?

That is Hysterical!!!! Katz Im not sure what to do maybe a bottle of water or make her sleep on her bed or in a crate. My cat goes in his domain at night and that the garage. He loves it out there. i wouldnt ever let her get away with it. She will be kicked off MY bed.

Thats really some cat!!

Well, water does nothing but piss her off, she can't sleep in a crat eat night or she howls(worse then a cat in heat!), and she can't sleep outside because we have a ton of coyotes by our house.
We get along great as long as I don't touch my husband. lol

Have you tried vinegar? our garage is heated and it is hooked on our house. Is yours? My cat doesnt have claws so if he gets mad at us we just tell him to back off. Do you have a bathrrom you can put her in? I cant help much because my cat doesnt have a attitude problem. lol

i hope someone can help you. If she were mine she would be in the garage or kicked off my bed everytime she started that crap. (i wouldnt actually kick her either) you know what I mean though

I haven't tried Vinegar, I will though.
Our garage is seperate from the house, plus that is where Koda sleeps at night, although it is in a crate. We do kick her off the bed everytime, she just jumps right back up. and you are going to laugh at this, I can't put her in our bathroom because she knows how to open the door!

You really need to call an animal behaviorist as soon as possible. This situation is not safe.

In the meantime, I strongly advise you not to allow your cat in the bedroom at night. By letting her into your bed, you are telling her that what she is doing is acceptable. If you have no other spot for her, a bathroom is fine.

If she howls, get yourselves a "white noise" machine to help you sleep. This is a little gizmo that gives out the sound of trains, the sea, rain, etc. continually. The repetitive noise soothes lots of people to sleep and can "cover" street noise, dogs barking or cats howling.

Katz,You owe me a new keyboard!! Lol I just spit sprite all over it. LMAO!! Too bad your garage is not attached. Could you put her in the bathroom and put a lock on the outside? or put a chair up so she cant open the door. try the vinegar though.

This cat has had some severe neglect and trauma in the past due to her old owners, at some point almost 4 years ago she was hurt(probably kicked) in the mouth, it broke her jaw severely, she never saw a vet. Her owners had three cats that were all outdoor cats in the middle of a big city, they lived on a very busy street. One cat was killed by a car, another by stray dogs, It took us a VERY long time to convince her owners to let us have her. Their reason for not just giving her to me?, "she is the family pet", yeah right. I finally convinced them and brought her home. She has been to the vet 4 times, twice for dental surgery to remove teeth. She has gotten WAY better since we got her. When we first brought her home, she would attack anyone for no reason. She hated being touched. Her mouth hurt her and she was not used to people.
She bonded very quickly to my husband and it was not too long before everyone was able to get along. We have come such a long way in just a few months(we have only had her for about 6-7 months) She is around 11-12 years old. This and her issue with Asha is the only problems we are having with her.
Like I said, as long as I am not touching him at all in bed(she doesn't act like this anywhere else)then she is perfectly content and will even purr and rub up against me.

As far as the howling, I am not worried about me or my husband but I have two little girls that need sleep. I can try the bathroom thing, I will have to find a way to lock it shut but that just doesn't seem to be much of an answer to stopping this.
Cinder has not been real active lately.(other then this) My vet said that because of her age no one knows when her last days will be. I want her to be as comfortable as possible. How do I do that and still be able to kiss my husband goodnight?

Does the cat react the same way if your husband touches you? Does it matter who initiates the touching?

If the bathroom doesn't work, one thing you might try is having your husband pet the cat only when you're touching him so that you touching husband equals attention for cat from husband and you not touching husband equals no attention for cat from husband.

no she won't attack him for touching me, but rather she will get up on top of him and rub up on his face and basically just get jealous. She tries to get him to then pay attention to her rather then me. But it is aggression when I touch him. She honestly acts like a super jealous girlfriend.
I will tell my husband to try that.

BTW, it is not every single night that this happens but probably a couple times a week, up to four times a week. There are a few nights where she will seem irritated but she just deals with it.

is she fixed? My cat used to be like that with chaz but after she got fixed she has mellowed out a lot,thank god! Maybe start feeding her at night wehn he gets home and she will have soemthing else to pay attention to.

She has been fixed for years. It isn't really when he gets home because it can be on a day off or anything, it is just in bed at night. Maybe I can take some treats to bed and try to associate treats with me touching him?

Maybe you and your husband could buy bunk beds. He and Cinder get the bottom, and you get the top!

i have a similar problem with my female siamese cat Ruby (aka:Rubenstein)except she doesnt try to shred me to pieces,Rubenstein has a behavior problem simalar to yours,i bought her a treatball to help relive her anger
it releases cat treats when she slaps it!!! it teaches her to take her anger out on Cat toys.

p.s:we call her Rubenstein cause she's like Frankenstein

Katz, I understand that your poor cat has been through hell and she sees your husband as her savior. Poor cat! What a life!

I still think you need to find some way to have the cat sleep somewhere else. I am worried that she may seriously injure you. Her history makes me even more worried.

Have you discussed this behavior with your vet? He may have some ideas that we don't.

I can see the humor in the situation but I know just how serious cat bite injuries are. You are sleeping with an animal that threatens you. This is not safe.

You are an angel to take in an older cat. I'm sure she appreciates it. I'm not trying to say you did anything wrong in taking her in. You were right and you say she is improving, which is good.

Is she okay with your kids? Maybe she could sleep with them instead of your and your husband? Ask the vet. Let us know what he says.

Katz, my parents have a similar problem. Their cat is soooo loveable to mom and everyone, until my dad gets home. Then she's all his. My parents are 72 and my mom finds it a blessing that Sheeba takes him off her hands for a while LOL.

We have been working on making her sleep at the end of the bed, she will snuggle up to his feet and that seems to be enough. We have fund that if he corrects her rather then me, then she listens.
LOL, I am not worried about her biting me, she hardly has any teeth left! lol When she slaps at me, she never uses her claws either. Wh? I don't know.
We have also started that she doesn't get "snuggle tie' on the bed, if hubby wants to pet her, he has to get off the bed. I think this might work. I will keep you all updated!

BTW, Tiocy is Caitlyns Kitty and Asha is Makaylahs and they tend to sleep with them.
