Ever since Tucker was a puppy I have been tickling his feet. Yesterday I noticed that when I tickled the bottom of his paws on his back legs, his whiskers move. I decided to check and see if it was only him or if other dogs do it too, so I checked two other dogs. Sure enough their whiskers moved too! I wonder if there is a reason why dogs do this, or if god crossed the wires between whiskers and feet, when making dogs.
When I talk to my poodle, he twitches his eyebrows up and down. He looks like Groucho Marx. A lot of dogs do this.
As to the whiskers thing, I think that most humans scrunch up their faces and giggle when they are tickled. Chimpanzees drop their jaws and hoot when they think something is funny. I don't think wires are crossed, I just think that's how animals are.
I would test this on my dogs, but they don't have whiskers because of the way they are groomed. I'll have to try this out on my daughter's dogs the next time I see them.
