Mandy is still itchy. I hate to put any Frontline or anything like that on her right now with the problems she has had. She has fininshed her Predisone and is doing better but I can't see where using this powder on her would hurt. Has anyone ever used it?
Thats what I was hoping that it would help her. They don't want to give her any allergy shots right now, so I thought about this powder and thought it might help. I just didn't know of anyone that had put it on their dogs.
Gosh if you have to use 2 meds to get this dog out of misery do it.......Be sure you are dosing the Benadryl correctly, most are sub dosed (not enough) and then wonder why it doesn't work. I have NEVER seen a correctly dosed dog not respond and respond well to Benadryl. Be sure to give 1 mg per pound of body weight twice a day. If you are dealing with a very small dog,Chi, then use the liquid. If dosed correctly you should never have need for Prednisone.
The reason she was taking Predisone had to do with a disc. I just didn't want to over medicate her on alot of different things. I tried the Gold Bond last night and it works great. Usually her allergies are better when the weather turns colder but she was still scratching some and this seems to really help.
I have a 7 mo. old black lab pup. He has torn his backside to hell (missing hair and flaky). We got him like this a couple of weeks ago. It has gotten a bit better, but he is still always bitting at his backside. I feel bad for the poor pup and was wondering if using the gold bond will help this problem. I have been giving him skin and coat vitamins and that has seemed to help as well, but I want to stop it completley so his fur can grow back and the flaking will stop.
Also, I have never had a lab before, so is this normal for their breed. Can someone fill me in a bit about thir breed please? Thank you!!
I don't just drench her in it. I put alittle on her back, but mostly where I put it was on her tummy and inside her back legs. I had rather use that than alot of this stuff that goes inside like Frontline. I know people swear by it but I just don't trust putting poison into my dogs.
