well said hench....I know no one here has anything against ANY dog. Pure bred, mutt, pure bred and pure bred making a mutt.....we are concerned with mutt breeders simply because they generally do not have the dog's best interest at heart. It has nothing to do with the dog, it is not his fault he is here and now needs a home. No one would ever say "don't get a puggle because they're not pure bred and they suck." They are merly concerned for the dog and want to warn you of the potential dangers due to bad breeding, which is asossiated with mix breeding.
It started when i told my brothere something he cooke takted like monkey butt and some how turned into monkey eat butt. thats my SN for everything its my email addy too. if you ever see monkeyeatbutt on another web page its probly me
oh beating people with sticks rock you should try it some time its like im gonna beat you with a stick and they laugh and whap then they are shocked and looking dumb so wack hen they are usualy abck to normal trying to figure out what happend. the long skiny ones are the best they make a cool sound. LOL
"No that was said to me. and im not mad we got in a small bicker and I think all is fine now"
Thanks Monkey.. Nadia likes to whine and complain a lot that PBsnobs are mean to her but, I challenged her several times to give me one valid reason that there needs to be Puggles or mixed breeds produced ON PURPOSE and of course she had no answer. I on the other hand can give you a diatribe about 4 pages long on the reasons that breeding mixed breed dogs on purpose has no merit. If anyone wants to hear let me know or you can all just go back and read what I wrote on the Puggle subject a while back.
"My point exactlly! It's a discussion forum not a dog fight for everyone to jump on someones opinion!" **************************************
So, when it is all boiled down, it looks like what monkeyeatbutt and duchess are wanting is for no one to disagree with anothers opinion, because then it appears that they think they are wrong. But the only ones that are wrong are the ones that dont agree with the original statement on a subject.
OK, so no one make a opposing opinion on anyone elses, whatever someone says, dont contradict it to educate or giving another opinion because you might be looked upon as a know it all. So if no one disagrees with no one else, and whatever someone says is to be presumed correct for the sake of an argument. Then what is the point of a discussion forum? Cause then no one has an opinion and no one is wrong.
OK guess this is the closing of this board, there is nothing to tal about here, you are ALL right!! lol (doesnt seem right does it?)
I think that jocquelle in message #22, and Icyhound in message #26, said it all!
Culling means removing from the breeding community for whatever reason, when one sells a puppy on a spay neutor contract technically its a cull, anything not kept for breeding or your own purposes, thats my personal interpretation of it. It can also mean to remove animals by killing them, farmers often remove and kill weak chicks or ducklings that are going to die anyway, runts and such. Germany for instance only allows you to register the best 5 puppies out of any litter(I think its five) I've heard that often anything over that is sometimes killed. In years past dog breeders would sometimes cull at birth undesirable puppies, white boxers, merle fawn great danes, any mismark. I've heard it, I believe it was done, though not as widely as people try to say.
"just in case no one saw it the first time. whats culling? "
Since I'm one of the bad PBsnobs here I'll answer this one.
culling: To pick or sort out from the rest.
Culling in dog breeding can sometimes mean Euthanizing a sick or deformed puppy. I livestock a farmer may choose to cull from a large litter of pigs the weak and in some cases the mother of such animals will cull on her own. This is just nature and is very natural in that sense. Some dog breeders will cull a blind, deaf or deformed (cleft palate) puppy or will choose to cull when one is fading. Culling can also mean to remove from the breeding pool a puppy that isn't good enough by offering it to a person as a pet with limited non-breeding papers.
Just for the record. I have nothing against mutts. I find them to be fine pets. What I DO have a problem with is the purposefull breeding of them by unscrupulous breeders who are trying to get rich on the backs of these poor dogs. Those who don't have a clue about the complexities of breeding sound healthy dogs and those that are just following the current fad to make a quick buck. They are not in it for the long haul. They'll jump right on the band wagon of the next fad "breed" (they are not a breed but, mutts) that comes along that gullible people are ignorant enough to buy. These mixed dogs have as many problems if not more than purebred dogs yet they spout on their sites that they are healthier due to hybrid vigor. Phooooey I say!!! If they were doing CERF or OFA on the parents or checking for luxating patellas I would guarantee they'd find as much if not more that was going wrong but, they don't check so, they hide behind their ignorance and say "my vet say's they are healthy" yeah right!! I have no problem with a person having a puggle if they went to the pound and rescued it. I do have a problem with someone who supports the sick, greedy so called breeders who are on purpose making these mixes by paying money for them.
No, not at all. I just feel I would be doing better if I saved a dog. I have a passion for Chihuahuas, who can really hard to get to come around to you, but I would like to adiopt one from a shelter. Saw one in the stray dog area while looking for my Toby. Trips to the pound make you want to pick one up right then. I'd like a medium to big mix breed to eventually. I sort of feel like I should have adopted from the pound, rather than of gotten my daughter a Boston..next time :)
I need a bigger house. Our lease is up in May, and I would love to find somewhere bigger with a secure fence. I want more dogs, lol. Although 5 is a good amount, I could have a few more...I'd like them all to sleep with me, but hubby has actually kicked all the guys out fo the bed. It's ok, have to make him think he has some control, so I can keep conning him into to more dogs. At least Toby got to sleep in my bed one last time before he ran away.
Ok i can see killing something thats going to die anyway or killing something thats gonna suffer. I can see marking the animals as limited or not regestering them. But why kill the healthy ones that have something wrong. Like rocky he has has a blue eye. Or my moms Shih-tzu he has a over bite and is very dumb (i thik the evil bug got hungry and started to much on his brain). I couldnt see killing them Rocky is a great dog and my moms dog well i dont like him but she does. They are not going to be used for breeding. I though about breeding rocky but I was reading up on bostons and changed my mind because alot of web pages said the blue eye can make the pups def and the mom has to have a C section done.
As for stating your oppion. Do it im not saying dont say what you fell but some people do get a little rud in some posts and others pick and pick untill someone gets mean about it and it starts a fight. The picking and being rude is what i think needs to stop. If someone is doing something totaly dumb or you dont agree with something then say something but try to be nice. Who ever comes behind you and does not agree they should say something in a nice way and not pick and pick and pick untill the first person gets mad. Alot of people on here remind me of my mother in law. She will pick and pick at me untill i say something (last time i told her she needed to be a street walker) or untill me and my hubby fight. Thats not cool and some of you do it. Its usualy not the people everyone calls a snob eather its usualy the new people who pick and the so called snobs who get rude or are being picked at.
You can find PB dogs at the pound. Here someone got a dapple winnie dog from the pound. My boston was just given to me because my hubbys uncle though he was dumb and didnt like him. I have seen alot of Pb dogs at the pound. If you go you dont have to get a mix if you dont want to. My brother in law got a husky from the pound next to my house. He was so sweet totaly trained and a little over a year old. He was great looking too. I bet someone is looking for him though. You could tell he had been taken care of very well. Thing is here if your dog gets out the dog catcher will pick it up take it to the "pound" witch is a vets office and 90% of the people around here have no clue thats were they take the dogs. Then the dogs have 4 days or they are put to sleep.
