I've read a ton about scams here so I'm hoping if anyone knows anything about this they'll clue me in. The breeder I got my lhasa from just sent me this email describing what she's going through trying to rescue this chihuahua. It rings very close to scams I've seen posted and if it is I'd like to clue her in. So please, if you know anything, please let me know as much as you can so I can pass it on to her. Thanks. Here's what she's told me.
This is Suggie, she is a baby Chihuahua and was caught up in the Katrina hurricane, but because of the devastating storm her mom went to Nigeria where she works for a Church mission. There lately the country has been under a terrible siege and it was little over a month ago that a plane was shot down. Suggie mom has been trying to get her back to the USA where I would be adopting her, but since the plane was shot down now British Airways will only take the pup for shipping as long as she occupies a seat and is under the care of the airline attendants. When we first booked the shipping it was going to cost us $350. to ship her safely but now because of the problems and the new rules on shipping animals because of the war it going to cost $900. to get her to me. I was lucky enough to get donations from the Chihuahua rescue and a little from the people at the mission where she is and have been able to pull together $500., now I just hope I am able to get together the rest of the money soon. Isn't she the most adorable little girl, I would just let it go and move on to another rescue but something tells me I need to find a way to get Miss Suggie safely in my arms, please wish me luck and send prayers for her, in hopes that we are able to find a way to get Suggie to the USA soon.
I guess there is never any way to tell if it is a scam for sure, until you send your money and its gone. Based on everything I know from the internet and people sending me the same or very similar junk/fraud emails I would say there is a 98.5% chance that this is a huge scam. I wouldn't even consider sending anything to Nigeria. Basically a large portion of their country is completely supported by suckering Americans over the internet.
