i was told by my vet to not take my puppy anywhere until she is fully vaccinated, like to dog parks and such. which i understand, i don't want her catching anything. but we've been dying to take her to petsmart to get her some cute little clothes to wear. wondering if this falls into the same category, seeing we would be holding her and not letting her down and be next to other dogs. what doeas anybody think about this?
How old is your puppy? By 4 months old your puppy should be fully vaccinated other than perhaps rabies (in my state rabies has to be done by 6 months of age). If your puppy is really young, I personally wouldn't take it anywhere yet. Even when I go to the vets, if I have a puppy with me I have it in a crate and when people ask me to take it out or if they can pet it I tell them no, for the safety of mine and their dog too. Sick dogs go to the vet. Not the ideal place to socialize a puppy. If you do take it with you to the store, do not let his feet touch the ground. I wouldn't let anyone put their hands up to it either. Enjoy your new baby!
If your pup has had 2 vaccinations 2 weeks later should be immunized enough to be able to play with other dogs....however, your pup may pick up bugs and bring them home to other dogs,i.e. I took my puppy to a show and she picked up the new dog flu and passed it to my pregnant bitch, who got very sick and aborted her litter...be careful
she is 12 weeks old. i figured if i take her, i just wouldn't put her down. but it would probably be hard to try and keep her from people. you know people with puppy's? they all have to pet them. that's the part i'm concerned about. i just don't want to come across rude to people when they want to pet her and i say no. or mean to kids, they don't understand. but do people pose harm to her? i just thought other animals?
