This cross can be wrought with problems. Just look up known eye disease for Maltelse and Poodles. Just imagine the crossing of these 2 and then you have luxating patellas. Do some research. I think you'll find that a poodle or a maltese from a responsible breeder will give you a healthier choice and a breeder who will stand behind their puppies rather than send you out the door with a mixture of who knows what!!??
Pardon me for being rude, but I'm getting tired of these so called designer dogs which are nothing more than MUTTS...please do not encourage someone to mix breeds and put more Worthless unwanted mixed breeds especially with health issues out in the shelters which is where most of these poor pups will end up. Wait a minute,,,they will ULTIMATELY end up in a mass grave of other unwanted dogs and cats that end up in shelters. if you want a purebred, fine I have no problem with that. but if you want a cross bred puppy, look for the free pups in the paper or go rescue one of them from the shelter, these poor babies need a home. Sorry I was harsh, but we HAVE to STOP THIS DESIGNER DOG INSANITY
schoolbus, I agree with you on the designer dog issue, as "breeders" are simply trying to make a profit off of mixed breeds, when there are plenty of mixed breeds in shelters (along with purbreds) that die every day in shelters bc they are not wanted.
However, you refer to mutts as "worthless." As the proud owner of two mutts I resent your comment. I would not trade my mutts for the most expensive, "best in show" purebred dog available. Pure genetic lines do not equal a better quality dog. The love a dog provides is what makes a dog a good dog, not ribbons or trophies or papers.
I really hope you do not think that mixed breeds, in general, are worthless. If that's not how you meant it, disregard my comment. NO dog is worthless, whether its a pure or mixed breed.
I definitely agree with that sentiment riley, and I was really hoping that my favorite "breed" (mutts) was not being called worthless. There are way too many wonderful homeless mutts getting put down every day at shelters - people should not be intentionally creating new breeds to get put down as well. I guess it's always about making a quick buck. I think the same goes for purebreds, as they wind up in shelters too. I'm all for breed improvement and preservation of breed characteristics, but if there was a way to put a limit on all breeding I would be for it. I think it's sad that so many people are constantly bringing more animals into the world while many sit in cages awaiting certain death.
