wow. how did loving my dogs get compared to putting guns to heads ? what does loving my dogs have to do with starving children ? what hat did that remark get pulled out of ? i tell my dogs i love them all the time. i smooch on them too. i do the same with my daughters. they love the dogs as much as hubby and i do. they are both 17 and when not in school, they are with their friends or on the phone or their computer. they are glad that quinn and i have something that we can shower with affection as they are teen-agers and dont have the time to spend with us like they did when they were younger.they are happy that we have our babies and that we get so much pleasure from them. our dogs and our children totally love us. this about sums it up for me:
" A heart is not judged by how much we love, but how much we are loved by others"
I never treat my dog as property. I never even said I own a dog. I say I have a dog. Like how I say I have a sister. I don't think you should breed dogs if you treat them as property because it makes me think that you are selling your so called property just for profit.
LuvsTalMen, lmao ! i also see alot of dogs riding around in the back of trucks around here. cops go right past them and keep on trucking. i swear some people do not use their noggins. a dog flying out of the back of a pick-up can cause serious injury or death to not only the dog, but also whoever is driving along behind them.
I was just posing a moral/mortal question. Is it extreme? Yes. Is it likely that anyone would ever have to face that situation? No. But how many of you answered it in your head, truthfully?
100 years ago, no one would have put their favorite dog's life above a humans. It is sad that today some people would.
Think what you want, but dogs are not people. Period. Are they property? No more than your children are until they are 18. They are your responsiblity.
You can love them LIKE children, but please don't forget that they are NOT children. There are children out their in EVERY state looking for homes in the foster care system. Kids that don't get care as well as most people take care of their dogs and that's just sad.
So what are we supposed to do about it ali? I certainly am not going to adopt a child, I'm not even 18 nor could I afford one, and I'm not sure I want a child, ever. So I have my dog. I don't consider him my child, I consider him my best friend. He is a better friend than ANY human has EVER been to me. He has never lied to me or stabbed me in the back, he's never hurt me or judged me or cared what I looked like. He has in fact, saved my life, made me happy, listened when no one else was there. Why shouldn't I love him like a human? He treats me better than anyone in my family.

The problem is that there are many claims made, such as "Alot of people are killed when their Dogs jump into the front seat" without ANY supporting facts. This is usually how laws are passed - Someone - maybe a politician, or an animal rights activist makes a claim that sounds very disturbing, but doesn't support it with facts. Voila! A new law. And a whole new sub-class of lawbreakers.
Think about it. You forget to put a seatbelt on your cuter little pug - Mr policeman pulls you over cuz YOU don't have a seatbelt on and now - you mean person! You don't have your pug buckled down!
Are you a criminal? Well what are you? Why do you then get "fined" if you are not a criminal?
We cannot protect ourselves against every life situation. Stuff happens. But is it realistiv to say dogs are dying in car accidents? What If I could told you that the probablilty of a dog living through a car accident is much, much higher than your chance of survival?
Dogs are property. It just so happens that 99.999 percent of us would go to any length to protect them, cuz we love them. I don't need a law to tell me to act responsibly to protect my doggie! And I don't need you to tell me how either!
And the one in 100,000 that are not treating their dogs as good as I do? Well, is that worth MORE legislation?
There will always be pro law lemmings. There will always be people that believe anything they hear from supposed "authorities". But thank goodness! That isn't us, now is it? ;)
Looks like riley needs to find a new set of friends?. I would have to say that I "OWN" 12 dogs. I let them ride in the car to the store unbelted all the time (Not all at once of course). My Americanbulldog loves to ride in the back of truck on the way to a boar hunt, so I let him. If he was a jumper I wouldn't let him because I care about him. I treat all my dogs and puppies very well and I make a profit on the litters. I don't pay my mortgage with it but it afforded me to buy the fox fur coat my wife wears. I know that if I had to I would eat my dog and make pants out of them, and I also spank my children when they need it and I think its good. Now let me ask how many people find me repulsive.
Im sorry I don't agree with the idea that we are just stupid animals, I believe we have a bigger purpose here. I think there are cruel people that mistreat animals and they should be dealt with on an individual basis, Not with with a broad brush by passing stupid ineffective feel good laws that take away freedom of choice.
I think we should worry more about how everyone is letting this country run into the ground with stupid legistration like this.
lets get our ideals back pleeeeeezzzze.

Probably. I don't get out that much. Hahaha. I just don't lose touch with reality because I love my pets. The majority of people in most countries (I don't know about this one...we have very screwed up priorities), would not value the life of an animal over that of a person. It is wrong. That is all I was and have been saying. To me that is crazy.
Kiba is my baby, my buddy, my partner in crime. If you adopted a kid, it is not your child, but you treat it like one dont you? How is that different then the way some of us treat our dogs?
Would you rather us breeding them every heat to make a profit? Or beating them? They're JUST DOGS right? One dies, no biggie, just go get another one. Sicko.
And whoever said about holding a gun to a dog or child, which one would you choose? I'd choose the dog. The dog doesnt know what is going on, you've got to be some sick SOB to do that. I dont know this kid, why should I care? I'd take the bullet myself for my little girl, Kiba. And I'd do the same for the puppy.
She's done alot more for me then some humans out there. Dogs arent cruel. They dont point or laugh. The only thing they want is to be loved, and to love you and be by your side.
Dont have kids, dont ever want kids. I hate kids. Give me a dog anyday, give me 20. There's nothing wrong with that. And yes I compare my dog to your kids... she's most likely better behaved too.
So stick it where the sun dont shy, ....... ***should put in a racist comment to link to the other one and add politics somewhere in there so we can have a huge arguemnt on that one too. And dont forget about religion!
Merico, I agree. At the local pet supply store they have a sign that says "Dogs welcome, children must be leashed". HA! I love it. And it's so true. Most dogs are much better behaved than children. Of course I'd give an arm and a leg to save a child, but I would do anything to save Riley's life.
