I just learned that if your dog gets sprayed by skunk to go out and buy Massengill feminine Wash . It's a liquid soap and supose to work really well. I thought I'd pass it on. We dont have skunks here but I heard it makes takes doggy oder away and makes the coat shine real good too. I might try it sometime.
Another trick that works well is 1/4 cup of baking soda to a quart of hydrogen peroxide, with a teaspoon of dish soap. We have all kinds of critters out here that want to eat dog food & get in the pen!
Ha, ha, ha, ha! We don't have skunks here in Australia, so I thought this was kinda funny. Especially when I pictured a skunk cocking it's leg on a dog. I know that's not how they do it, but like I said, we don't have skunks here so I can imagine what I like!
I don't know if you have ferrets in Australia but if you have ever been near one skunks smell just the same only 10,000 times stronger. The smell is powerful enough that your nose and eyes burn from it.
No they don't lift their legs but they will stamp their feet and hiss before they spray. Years ago my kids used to be mugged for their lunches on the way to the school bus, first by momma skunk then by her and baby. I used to have to make a sacrifice sandwich for them to throw for her or she wouldn't let them down the driveway. Threatened them every morning for one whole spring. Never bothered the school bus though.
