I had Riley neutered around the same age. He immedietly stopped marking in inappropriate places (like petsmart), he just needed a couple reminders and he's never done it again. He still lifts his leg outside, which I don't mind.

If he's nine months old, he's probably "taught" himself to do this and think's it is natural/acceptable. I've heard altering should be done before the pup has matured to help control the urge to "mark his territory". Perhaps with obedience training and follow up rules set by yourself, you may be able to nip this in the bud! Best of luck.
I doubt it will stop him because mine starting cocking his leg after he was nutered. It's a learned behavior but good luck on stopping it. Thats why i told my hubby the next one i purposely get will be another girl ,My Duchess never does things like that.
My firend has a lab which is neutered, but he never marked until he went to the dog park and started copying some of the dogs there. I don't think he even knew what he was doing. Guess he just wanted to be in the group.
I have a mini schnauzer that walked in a lifted on our coffee table one time when we had company. I was about 7 months old at this time. I got him fixed and he never marked in my house again. Still marks all over the yard and on walks but that it ok!
i had my dog neutered at 6 months because though he wasn't marking inside the house yet, he sure as heck was marking all over the place outside. he would also hump a lot of things and people and dogs. and i was deathly afraid he was gonna bring his marking inside.
well, after we got him neutered, he still humps but maybe 30% of what he used to, and still marks outside but only at the dog park.
