If your pup is already 4 months old forget about it its too late. this is why you wanna buy apuppy from a reputable breeder it would have been done already and you would not have to be searching boards for answers. 4 months they will never stand so just love him the way he is now.
THE CUT OFF FOR MOST VETS HERE IS 9 WEEKS SOME DO IT UP TO 12 WEEKS. MY DOBERMANS ARE DONE BETWEEN 6-8 WEEKS . MY EURO'S AT 6 WEEKS ARE THE SIZE OF A USA DOG AT 8 WEEKS. AVERAGE COSTS ANYWHERE FROM 400-700 DEPEINDING ON WHERE YOU ARE IN THE COUNTRY. opps darn caps again. reputable breeders always take care of ears for the pwners and a reputable breeder always teaches you about you breed they are your new best freind the first year! they stand behind there dogs 100% we are always there for are owners and we put everything in writing. its a shwme to see people get a byb badly bred dog and have to fight for help its sad
I don't do my boxer pups before they leave. I give people the option, a lot of people (myself included) prefer a natural ear. I do realize it is more acceptable for a boxer to have a natural ear than a dobe.
Prices vary between $125-700, but it really shouldn't be about price as much as quality. A bad crop is much worse than a natural ear. More expensive does NOT mean a better crop. You really need to find out where the show people of your dogs breed go.
I have never heard of a vet wanting to wait until 16 weeks, for any breed. I wonder where your vet got his/her information on that. Scary.

My Dane was cropped and it was $185.00 for the crop and the after care- repeat trips to the vet for rewrapping, etc cost another $100.00. I live in south central Pa and there are not many vets that will crop. At the time it was done, there were 3 vets in my local area that would crop.
