Sorta random, but I'm curious if any of your other dogs do this. I have a metal caged crate that my shih-tzu sleeps in. But everytime he goes in to sleep, he bites onto one of the bars and falls asleep with his teeth around it. He's 13 weeks old so I know he's teething, but I find it so strange that he does this. It's really cute watching him in this weird position, but I wonder if that's just what dogs do.
This guy is so spoiled. He has all the toys in the world. He doesn't have any anxiety problems or trouble sleeping. He sleeps right next to me in his crate and usually right through the night without any whining. He's an odd puppy. He'll just crawl in his crate... bite down between the bars... and then fall asleep. Are there any other details you want to know about or do you think he just has weird habits?
I dont know!, Maybe if he is right next to you he hears or senses you maybe try putting him in another room. He may be trying to get YOUR ATTENTION! You need your sleep and so does he. It is not so easy I know but... its worth a try.
If he's teething have you tried any of the little icy bones or rings? He might chew on something like. When they are put in the freezer and get real cold I would imagine it feels good to the little gums. Maybe that would stop him from chewing on the crate.
its gotta be the cold metal see if the pup also likes ice cubes. BE SURE TO RINSE THEM FIRST SO THEY DONT STICK AND HURT YOUR PET sorry in caps just wanted to stress that (remember the christmas movi tongue stuck to a frozen lamp post)
Hmmm interesting. Never even considered the coldness of the bar as to why he bites down. Based on the responses it seems as if Riley is the only puppy that does this. Like Allie's JR, I think it's really cute how he does this too. I'll try the ice cubes out, but part of me thinks he does this simply because he's a silly puppy with weird quirks.
