i also have 3 cats, and wow! Is that not true to form! If the cats need a pill, I will usually half or quarter the pill and mush it between 2 moist treats and make a little treat ball. Then, I just sit and watch to make sure it is eaten, sometimes they eat around it if the treat falls apart, but other times there is no problem...oh well, just luck of the draw I guess!
When I had cats and they needed to take a pill, I would have my husband or other adult hold them while I opened their mouth and put the pill in the back of their tongue. Then I would rub their throat gently until they swallowed. Might sound harsh, but they always got their meds and actually got used to it.
hahaha...i have 5 cats and it is so true. if you try to throw it down their throat, it helps if you rub the pill in butter first. if that doesn't work ask your vet for something to help you give the cats there pill. it has the same idea as a syringe but made special for giving pills, you just have to make sure that you aim it right into the cats mouth.
I loved it! My daughter got all upset tho, thinking that the cat was getting hurt...
When I had to give a previous cat a pill, I would catch him while he was dozing. Draw his head back, pop it in, and hold his mouth shut. By the time he figured out what was going on, it was all over. At least it worked then. With that cat.
